Hello hosts and fellow travellers!

I’m Luca, an Italian who grew up in Germany and have recently moved back to Italy full-time after several years of studying Geography.

I reactivated my Workaway profile because I am now looking for meaningful longer-term experiences where I can contribute practical skills, learn from local life, and be part of projects that value sustainability, community, nature, and creativity.

During my studies, I focused particularly on the relationship between people and their surroundings, focusing on water use and environmental issues.
Before and alongside university, I worked in IT support for students and staff. This taught me to solve problems calmly, communicate with many different kinds of people, and find practical solutions when something does not work as planned.
I enjoy sharing knowledge, helping people feel welcome in a new place, and exchanging languages and perspectives.

I am open-minded, respectful, reliable, and used to living with different people. I value everyone’s personal space, but I also enjoy shared meals, conversations around a campfire, music and discovering new places together.

I would be happy to support a project for several weeks or longer, depending on the fit.

I am continuing to improve my Italian, especially in everyday conversation, and I would be happy to practise with hosts and other volunteers. In return, I can teach or help people practise German and English.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I enjoy practical work and improving things. I have experience with gardening in both warm and cold climates, including caring for houseplants and herb gardens, building greenhouses and raised beds, and working with fruit trees.
I have helped with olive harvesting, olive-oil production, and pruning trees such as olive, orange, citron, and apple trees. I also know how to prepare firewood, both by hand and using machinery.

Besides gardening, I have a lot of woodworking and building experiences including van conversions, furniture, pizza ovens, carports, garden sheds, chicken coops, fences, and garden projects. I can also help with drywall, paving stones, light renovation work, and practical maintenance. I am not a certified tradesperson, but I am confident, careful, hands-on, and able to learn quickly.
I enjoy being active and improving things.

I am comfortable caring for animals, especially chickens and sheep, and I have experience training and handling dogs. At the same time, I would love to learn more about farm life, animal care, and sustainable ways of living and working with the land.

Through my Geography studies, I also developed an understanding of environmental issues, landscapes, water use, and the connections between communities and their physical surroundings. I enjoy sharing this interest where it is useful, while remaining curious and ready to learn from local knowledge.

I travel with my own car, which can be useful for reaching projects in rural areas and gives me some independence during my free time.

In my free time, I enjoy crafting, photography, reading, listen to all kind of music, cooking, exploring new places, sitting around a campfire, having a good conversation, and going on hikes.
I am looking forward to meeting people, contributing seriously to a project, and becoming part of daily life rather than simply passing through.
