Hi there! My name is Kyrene, and I’m 28 and from the US. I live in California where I spend my days mostly outdoors - surfing, hiking, exercising, reading, and spending time with friends :).

I’m a huge traveler, and my eventual dream is to open and run my own B&B in the States, to create great experiences for others, like I’ve been able to experience myself while traveling. I'm taking some time off work right now and would love the opportunity to volunteer at hostels and surf camps in Latin America. I love meeting new people, want to learn more about how a hostel is run, and am eager to practice my Spanish. I've been taking Spanish classes for the last 6 months, and it's a big goal of mine to eventually become fluent.

I've worked in HR & Operations for the last 6 years, which includes customer service, office management, event planning, keeping the business running, and more. I believe my work experience and my passion for travel, learning about new cultures, meeting new people, and creating great experiences for others will enable me to be a great volunteer at your hostel / surf camp :).

I'm really interested in learning Spanish! I've been taking classes for 6+ months and will be doing a Spanish immersion program in Guatemala in December. It's a big goal of mine to become fluent in Spanish and I'm excited at opportunities to practice.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Over the last 6 years, I've worked in office management, human resources, and operations at various technology companies in California. My responsibilities have included managing the office and vendors, planning team events, being the point of contact for employee questions, creating new company programs, managing many projects, and more! The overall role has been to ensure employees have a healthy and happy work environment, while also making sure business objectives are met, all while streamlining processes so that things run as smoothly as possible.

I bring a positive attitude and wonderful energy to the workplace. I have a very strong work ethic and a high bar for excellence, and believe that we should work hard and do a good job, but that we should also have fun :).

I'm experienced at managing an office, which I believe will translate well to managing a hostel. I like to be hands-on and get anything that needs to be done done, but also work well with others to effectively coordinate and get things done together as team.

In Operations, we wear many hats and constantly switch gears. I love this variety, as it enables me to learn about many different things and never get bored! I love to learn, and love to understand new problems and figure out how to best solve them. I believe no task is ever too small! With a generalist background, I'm excited to learn about and contribute to whatever needs to be done at the hostel :).

I'm big into the outdoors and especially love to surf, camp, and hike! I also love to cook (and eat!), and am a big poker and board game fan. I worked at a vet clinic as a vet tech for 3 years, and have a huge love for animals. I don't have any pets of my own because I travel a little too much right now, but would be thrilled to help take care of any pets you have at your property!
