Hi! I'm Jenny, a psychiatric nurse practitioner student from California. I'm hoping to backpack Iceland in late July to mid August, then Morroco and Alergia, so I'm looking for travel friends!

Hi there!

I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner student finishing my Masters degree in Philadelphia, USA. Since 2021, I've been solo traveling during my break and doing work exchanges. I feel happiest and most alive in nature/traveling--especially since the COVID-19 pandemic made me realize that there are too many beautiful things to see in this lifetime. I think life is much less complex than people make it out to be if we all took the time to pursue what makes us happy. Working in healthcare also makes me appreciate my own mortality a lot more, so I try to live not taking any day for granted.

I'm originally from California, USA and grew up in a very multicultural immigrant family with ties in China and Sweden. I'm lucky to have grown up with exposure to different world views and cultures--though I'm still forming mine! I also lived in Nashville, TN for 3 years before Philly and last year lived in Berlin, Germany for 2.5 months. I'm fluent in English and have some proficiency in Mandarin and Spanish. My hobbies include hiking, running, yoga, meditation, ukulele, cooking vegetarian food, art, and creative writing. I love being outside in nature and with animals, especially cats and dogs.

Last year, I lived out my dream of doing 1/2 a year of solo traveling to 10 different countries, mostly through work exchanges. I realized people really don't need a lot to be happy if they have genuine connection. I try as often as I can afford to travel and escape materialism/living in the city. I've hitchhiked, made wonderful friends all over the world, and am hoping to do another few months of global travel after I graduate in July 2024 (also am looking for travel companions around Morroco, Algeria, and Tunisia August-September). I love living in the moment to find unexpected moments of life, whether that's learning about a culture I've never been exposed to or saying yes to adventures I never could've imagined having.

I would love to improve on my Spanish. I traveled through Spain for 3 weeks recently and Costa Rica for a month last year through work exchanges, where I tried to pick up my Spanish again. I took several years of high school Spanish, then studied abroad in Alicante, Spain in the summer of 2017. However, I would love to have more conversational practice as I would like to be more fluent and would love to teach English in exchange!

Quais são suas habilidades?

I can cook a variety of vegetarian cuisines, babysit, take care of animals, teach English, clean, help in the garden, and help with eco projects! I also have worked as a semi-professional photographer and can provide image taking, image editing, basic video editing, and website management. I have experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Creative Suite, Wix, Squarespae, and Wordpress. As a previous research assistant, I can manage spreadsheets, finances, presentations, and documents. I am very experienced in Microsoft Word, Sheets, Powerpoint, and Office as well as Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive.
