Hi, I'm Edna from Singapore, and I'm finally making a dream come true that I've put off for far too long. I prioritised building a career I love in tech (which I eventually plan on going back to), but now my dream of living here in the East Coast is happening, and better late than never!

I believe life is an incredible journey, and I want to make the most of it by collecting meaningful experiences, learning from others, and constantly challenging myself to grow. I'm currently going through a deep journey of self-discovery, trying to better understand who I am, what truly matters to me, and what my purpose in life might be.

1 / What am I here in Australia for?

𖤓 I'm starting to realise that I love cooking, despite being very new to it. I've been told my meals are some of the best tasting food people have had in their lives :) It warms my heart to fill tummies while soothing my homesickness.

𖤓 I'm on the pursuit of understanding people from all over the world. I believe that some of the most valuable lessons come not from books or classrooms, but from real-life experiences, meaningful conversations, being outdoors, and the people we meet along the way.

𖤓 Music is my sixth love language. I'd love to share in your taste in music. Or, listen to the piano or guitar... or sing in a silly voice together in a karaoke. I played percussion in a symphonic band, and adore dance. I think dance is one of the most beautiful means of human expression. I love dance so much, I competed back home - sometimes I create dance pieces about a social issue, a feeling, or mostly just as an excuse to get my friends to goof around and create special memories together :) I've been to Tomorrowland Belgium 2025, Ultra Music Festival in Singapore and saw Anyma in Sydney. Apart from electronic music, I love alt rock, pop punk, afrobeat, amapiano, reggae, jazz, r&b, funk, indie folk! Really depends on the mood :)

𖤓 One of my dreams coming here is to learn everything about the design process, mechanical and electrical outfitting of a campervan. If you have knowledge, or a workshop to share, I am very keen to learn!

𖤓 I loved board sports back in Singapore, I longboard danced, wakeboarded and wakesurfed. I loved hanging out with surfers in months spent in Shoalhaven, so I'm excited to go from carving concrete to carving waves :) I'm a beginner with an 8ft foamie I carry with me on my van! I've put it off for so long because I've been.... quite... scared of the open waters. Aussie waves are hella gnarlyyy! But, the beach is the one place that brings me peace, and I'm very excited to overcome my fear of it in my two years here in Australia. I love board games, so... it definitely counts as a board sport, lol! Ticket to ride, terraforming mars, pandemic, splendor, catan, azul, wingspan, captain sonar, the longer the time to set up, the more intriguing to me

𖤓 I spent 5 years in Singapore with international housemates in sharehouses. I do enjoy communal-living versus living completely on my own.

𖤓 I bring mature communication, emotional steadiness, and life experience, while being completely down to hang out and party with people of all ages and walks of life :)

2 / Who am I?

"you get to choose what the story becomes"

That's my personal mantra since I graduated business school at 23, and moved out at 25. As an unwedded daughter, it could be seen as a betrayal to your entire asian ancestry line, lol :) but... I believe there are still so many powerful oceans to see, contribution to causes I am passionate about, moments with people to share, music to discover, and more outside of where I was born and raised.

I also make polymer clay jewelry, and it’s a big passion of mine. I could talk about it for hours.

I've built my career in Product Management and cared about creating tech communities and opportunities for shared learning. In many ways, I felt like I achieved ikigai. So, moving my career away from Singapore and taking on the East Coast in a campervan felt like the most reckless, yet brave thing I could do for myself. I love that I get an opportunity to explore life in a place that feels right for me. I've only been in Australia for 6 months, but being outdoors and on the coast feels like a big exhale.

Coming from a high-density city life in Singapore, its terrifying to step away from a version of myself. I find immense happiness in being outdoors, nurturing and building with my hands. Just like why I wanted a career in Product Management, I am highly motivated by the process of bringing something to life from scratch, which allows me to connect with people along the way, and whose outcome hopefully also makes the world a better place to live in.

I have a strong interest in learning French and German. If you speak it I would love someone to practice with! I think Hebrew and Spanish are beautiful languages, but have only gotten the chance to learn just few words so far... In return, I can teach you: - Mandarin, - Hokkien (Singaporean dialect), - Proper Singlish to impress the aunties at Singaporean hawkers ;) and - Some sentimental phrases (or cuss words) in Malay, Tagalog, Korean and Cantonese <3

I can share a song, a recipe, a smile - the world needs more humanity, you know?

I also have a genuine love for gardening & cultivated my own plants back at home. I'm good with the basics of plant health, watering schedules, and soil care. My early background in Hospitality Business, creating special moments for luxury hotel guests, serving ice cream in gelato shops, and working in fashion retail makes me good in people-facing roles :)

Work and contribution in Australia, to date:

𖤓 Possumwood Wildlife Vet Hospital & Trauma Recovery Centre, Bungendore, NSW (2 months, live-in)
Daily (~8 - 8.5hrs) cleaning of animal enclosures and giving large injured animals physiotherapy. Repair work around the property (pipes, gates). Transporting heavy items via Wheelbarrow like 20kg Pellets, Hay etc. Milk bottle and medication preparation. On my days off, I helped Possumwood to train their image recognition models to help Volunteers to accurately identify specific animals to aid with administering medication, treatment planning and eventual release.

𖤓 Bawley Ridge Farm & Cottage, Termeil, NSW (2 months, live-in):
Gardening, chopping firewood, tending to alpacas & geese, mowing, general property maintenance, putting up gates, making signages, housekeeping, cooking elaborate meals :)

𖤓 [A fantasy of mine]:
I would like to booth at an Australian farmers' market or craft fair for my small business sometime near Christmas 2026! I have run workshops of up to 10 people and would love to engage the community, bring people together and teach a new craft!
