First, let me share a quick, up-to-date summary about myself:

I am seeking longer-term opportunities of 1–4 months and am ready to help hosts with work related to:

• wildlife conservation, animal rescue
• community support, education, and teaching
• farming, permaculture, horticulture, and animal care
• indoor and outdoor maintenance, basic carpentry or light construction work
• hospitality and tourism
 – guest services such as reception, managing reservations, planning, scheduling, staff coordination
 – organising tours and activities, as well as tour guiding
 – waiting at tables, breakfast service, kitchen assistance, housekeeping (cleaning and cooking)
• office duties, including translations

I am also open to assisting in other areas where I have experience or can quickly learn the necessary skills.

Since May 2024, I have travelled and worked in various roles, both as a volunteer and in paid positions, in beautiful natural locations. My journey has taken me to the west coast of Ireland, Swedish Lapland beyond the Arctic Circle, northern Iceland, Navarino Island in Chile (the southernmost commune in the world), southern Norway, Arctic Norway, Ecuador (including the Galápagos Islands), Guatemala, Bolivia, and northern Germany.

I have stayed with hosts for one to four months at a time, assisting with their hospitality and tourism businesses as well as with everyday work at their homes, farms, and other properties. My responsibilities have included housekeeping (cleaning and cooking), waiting tables, reception, and general guest services. I have also worked as a barista, dishwasher, kitchen porter, breakfast server, translator, and tour guide.

As a tour and activity guide, I have accompanied tourists and travellers on various day trips, including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, horse riding, and boat tours. I have also tried my hand at guiding multi-day trekking excursions in Guatemala, and volunteered on a traditional farm on Santa Cruz Island, part of the Galápagos Islands, where I showed visitors giant tortoises and a lava cave, and introduced them to the islands’ geography, geology, biology, and history.

I have also helped care for dogs, other pets, and farm animals. In addition, I have sanded and sealed the wooden walls of a hotel building. It was my first time doing carpentry work, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While the task itself was easy to learn, it required focus, patience, and stamina, and was sometimes challenging because the weather changed so often. I found the experience very rewarding, though.

All my Workaway experiences have been enriching, educational, and fun, even during the more difficult moments, so I am excited to continue my adventures. I’m really looking forward to my next host and challenge!

A bit more about me:

Like many others on Workaway, I am here to gain new experiences, knowledge and skills. I love learning, exploring diverse cultures, meeting people from different backgrounds, and immersing myself in nature. I am independent, yet I also enjoy being part of a community and collaborating with others. I like helping people and brightening their day.

I am passionate about nature and wildlife. The beauty of landscapes, flora and fauna fills me with joy. I am fond of the countryside and “all creatures, great and small.” I love caring for animals and spending time outdoors, whether I am working, relaxing, exercising, or simply taking a stroll. I also enjoy interacting with people of different cultures and ages, and listening to their stories and perspectives. I appreciate meaningful conversations about personal beliefs, philosophies, passions, projects and challenges. They inspire me.

Experiencing another culture, lifestyle and job is an exciting and enlightening adventure that I always look forward to repeating. Instead of travelling from place to place, I would prefer to stay with the same host for several months or an entire season, to gain a deeper, more comprehensive experience. I want to become an integral part of local life and community, adjusting to its rhythms and routines, and falling in love with it. I want to master my tasks, and in my free time, I would like to visit many interesting places, which also takes time.

Over the last twenty years, I have primarily worked in office jobs and spent a significant amount of time at a computer, so I am eager to engage in physical work to assist hosts. It would be even better if the work combined physical and mental effort, but I am open to any tasks. I will strive to learn and do them well. I would also love to participate in a project that benefits people or the environment.

All this might sound like a collection of familiar and generic platitudes, but it truly reflects who I am. Oh, and one more thing: I don’t take myself too seriously, and I love to have a good laugh.

I have a range of skills and interests that might be useful to hosts. I’ve described them in separate sections below—please refer to the headings if you’re looking for something specific.

• Studies and Career – Soft Skills and Adaptability:
I studied humanities, focusing on literature and languages, mainly German. After university, I lived in several countries—Spain, the UK, and Portugal—and worked in a variety of fields. My early roles included tour guide, hotel receptionist, student advisor, teacher, and translator. Later, I moved into business administration and finance, working my way up from assistant to team lead and manager. Eventually, I transitioned into project management and consulting, focusing on business transformation and software implementation. Through these experiences, I developed strong communication and interpersonal skills and learned to adapt to change and overcome challenges.

• IT / Computer Skills:
Although I am not an IT professional, I have practical IT knowledge and computer skills from my work in business administration, ERP project management, and software consulting. If you need help with IT tasks, let’s chat about how I can assist.

• Languages:
I am fluent in English, German, Spanish, and Hungarian, and have taught English and German to children and adults in the past. I can help you practise any of these languages or translate written texts. I have translated website content, flyers, restaurant menus, training materials, instruction manuals, and have worked on software localisation.

• Hospitality and Tourism:
Although I ultimately developed my career in a different sector, during my student years, career breaks, and since starting my Workaway journeys in 2024, I have gained broad experience in hospitality and tourism. I have worked in various roles across Hungary, Spain, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Guatemala, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Chile.
I have been a tour guide, tour and event organiser, front desk receptionist, housekeeper, waitress, breakfast chef/server, and kitchen porter. I have collaborated with a variety of employers and teams in businesses of all sizes—from tour operators and agencies, 4-star and family-run hotels, ecolodges and guesthouses, to campsites, restaurants, cafés, and bars. My responsibilities have included supporting professional kitchens and restaurants with cleaning, washing up, organising, sanitising, food preparation, waiting tables, making and serving breakfast, and basic baking and cooking. As a housekeeper, I have also cleaned and managed laundry for hotels, apartments, cabins, campsites, communal areas, and restaurants, and have experience managing stock and orders for both housekeeping and kitchens.
I am passionate about delivering the best possible service and experience for guests and travellers. I take pride in my organisational and communication skills, and genuinely enjoy hands-on, physical work. As a nature and outdoors enthusiast, I especially appreciate countryside and remote locations. In addition to family-run hotels in rural areas, I am drawn to farm guesthouses, restaurants, campsites, and ecolodges in the middle of nowhere. For instance, I have volunteered at Errante Ecolodge on Navarino Island in Chile (about five kilometres from Puerto Williams, the world’s southernmost town); Breidamyri Farm Apartments and Campsite near Laugar, Iceland; Lappeasuando Lodge in Lapland, Sweden; Liseth Pensjonat og Hyttetun by Hardangerfjord in southern Norway; Litløy Fyr lighthouse, apartments, and restaurant on Litløya island in northern Norway; and Colibrí Ecolodge and Campsite in a mountain village near La Paz, Bolivia. I enjoy places in the mountains just as much as those in the jungle or desert, and I love the ocean, seas, lakes, rivers, and fjords. At all these locations, I have worked in all-rounder hospitality roles, covering everything from housekeeping and waiting tables to breakfast service, kitchen assistance, reception, and activity guiding.
As a tour guide, I have led groups in Italy, Norway, Chile, Ecuador, and Guatemala. In Italy and Norway, I accompanied groups of 45–55 senior visitors from Germany to destinations such as Venice, Verona, Lake Garda, and the Dolomites in Italy, and Stavanger, Lysefjord, Jøssingfjord, and Bergen in Norway. My duties included organising and leading daily bus tours, wine tastings, boat trips, city sightseeing, museum visits, folklore events, lunches and dinners, mountain treks, and similar activities. In Chile, I accompanied smaller groups of 2–12 travellers on day trips, including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, horse riding, and boat tours. In Guatemala, I guided multi-day trekking excursions, and in Ecuador, I volunteered on a traditional farm on Santa Cruz Island (Galápagos), where I introduced visitors to giant tortoises, a lava cave, and the islands’ geography, geology, biology, and history.
I have also worked at 4-star hotels in Hungary and Germany as a receptionist, housekeeper, and breakfast staff member. Additionally, I have managed travel arrangements, accommodation, facilities, catering, training courses, and leisure activities for international students at a language school and a business school in Barcelona. I also used to help at my friend’s bar in Barcelona, where I waited tables, cleaned, and organised events.

• Physical Work, Cleaning, Cooking, Maintenance and Light Construction Work:
I love being active and would be happy to help with physical work, including housekeeping (cleaning, cooking, home projects), gardening, farm work, animal care, indoor and outdoor maintenance, and light construction. Alongside my professional experience as a housekeeper—including in 4-star hotels—I would enjoy helping you clean and tidy your home, manage meal prep, cook for you and/or your staff and other volunteers, or assist with painting, repairs, and home, garden, or construction projects.
As a volunteer, I already have experience with such tasks, including painting cabins and sanding and sealing the wooden walls of a large ecolodge. I take pride in my work and always maintain high standards—especially when it comes to cleaning. I’m thorough! :)
While I’m not a professional chef, I have worked as a kitchen porter, enjoy cooking, and can prepare tasty dishes. So far, I haven’t received any complaints—people from different cultures and countries seem to really like my cooking. I’d love to learn how to make your specialities and, from time to time, cook something in my own style for you.

• Farm Work and Help with Animals:
The countryside and farm life are close to my heart. I grew up helping my grandparents on their farms, which had livestock, vegetable gardens, cornfields, orchards, and a small vineyard. I had many tasks, but especially enjoyed caring for the animals—feeding, herding, and cleaning them and their stalls. I’m an animal lover, particularly fond of dogs, and we’ve always had dogs in the family (currently a Border Terrier).

• Wine and Horticulture:
I’m passionate about wine and interested in gardening. I come from a wine region and have a basic understanding of winemaking, but would love to learn more. My hands-on horticulture experience is limited, but my enthusiasm for quality produce and love for outdoor work make me a dedicated helper.

• Children and Seniors:
I believe I have a knack for connecting with people of all ages, including children and seniors. I enjoy spending time with them, and they seem to enjoy my company too. I’m good at engaging children in creative play and supporting their learning. I’ve always been interested in pedagogy and psychology, and have studied both at university. In my early twenties, I worked as an au pair in Hungary, Scotland, and Spain, and I’ve also taught German and English to children. As a fun aside, I used to play volleyball competitively at school, so I can teach the basics to both kids and adults. As a child, I also danced in a Hungarian folk dance group for many years, if that’s of interest.

• Art and Other Creative Projects:
I have always appreciated art in all its forms—especially music, literature, photography, film, painting, and other visual arts. If you have an art project, I’d be thrilled to help and would support it enthusiastically. I’m not an artist myself, but I have an active mind and can be creative if something sparks my imagination.

In summary, I am a mature, adaptable, and dependable person, eager to learn new skills and help you with any task. If it involves physical work or something entirely different from my usual job in software implementations, that’s even more appealing!

If you’re curious, you can read about my favourite pastimes below. However, there’s nothing essential you’ll miss if you decide to skip this. ;-)

I love being active outdoors—walking, hiking, running, doing Pilates, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, or skiing, depending on what’s possible. When I’m on holiday, I like to try more adventurous activities such as skydiving, paramotoring, or canyoning. If I have company, I enjoy playing volleyball, badminton, table tennis, bowling, or snooker.

I’m fond of animals, especially dogs, and enjoy spending time with them. I love walking in nature and discovering what’s around me. I go birdwatching, forage for herbs or wild edibles, pick mushrooms, berries or litter, or take part in conservation or rescue activities. I have friends who work in various wildlife roles, so I can sometimes join them.

I read articles and essays online and enjoy different genres of books in print. I can happily lose myself for hours researching topics that interest me, from all sorts of fields. I like podcasts, debates, documentaries, fiction films, sketches, stand-up, and other shows.

I cherish the occasions when I can cook, enjoy good conversation, and share food and wine with friends. I also like playing social games, especially trivia, word games, and “Activity”.

Although I’m selective about music, I appreciate a variety of genres. I love live music, especially in smaller, more intimate venues such as pubs, jazz, blues, fado, or flamenco clubs. I also enjoy classical concerts. If I get the chance, I visit galleries, exhibitions, and museums, and occasionally watch a modern theatre play or dance performance.
