Hey there,

I grew up in California and apart from my passion for guitar, nature, and surfing, I always had the burning desire to travel the world. My family didn't do much of that so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I knew I wanted to backpack abroad after college but didn't know where to start. I wanted to go off the beaten path to travel in an authentic and adventurous way that didn't cost much money or require extensive planning, so I decided to go to Morocco for my first trip.

I learned so much about what the world had to offer by just visiting one country and from then on I realized this was my calling. (Un)fortunately, I missed my flight home and after overcoming the initial rush of panic, I decided to take a ferry to Spain and begin backpacking Europe with no plan. I was sure I didn't want to go home yet and wanted to make the most out of my situation. Though I didn't know what I was doing at the time, I took my journey day by day, embracing uncertainty, meeting new people, hitchhiking, living with strangers, and ended up traveling alone for 6 months. This included Morocco, continental Europe, the UK, and part of California on the way home.

Throughout this life changing experience, I immersed myself in so many places, cultures, languages, and lifestyles. I learned to live with less and seize the day, traveling with less money than I thought I needed and so much time. I went from having no backpacking experience to traveling in a way I could only dream of. To this day I'm reminded of the small moments I thought I had forgotten.

In my greater backpacking journey, this trip was only the tip of the iceberg. So I joined Workaway to move deeper into the world of travel and find community in new places. My goal is to experience as much as I can in this world with the time that I have, and I shall use my time.

I've studied and conducted biology research in university, planned events and developed community in my dorms, tutored English, learned a year of Russian, learned some surfing/sailing/archery/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, play guitar/sing, became an EMT, and worked on a fishing boat in the Bering Sea
