Heyyy. I'm Gizelle!

I was born and raised in Florida. I have always wanted to live abroad for at least 6 months. My plan at first was to go backpacking around a bunch of South American countries, but at this time of my life I'm really resonating with "Go deep, not wide." And so, I decided to travel to Peru and really take my time exploring this diverse, immense and beautiful place.

I want to join a safe place where there is ample opportunity to explore and to learn. I want to socialize, in English and in Spanish. I have always been insecure about not being able to speak Spanish fluently considering my entire family is from Puerto Rico, so I decided that this is going to be one of my main goals in visiting Peru.

My other goals are to help communities with learning English. I am a certified TEFL teacher and I have experience teaching young kids English. I really want to take my time exploring the Amazon Rainforest as well, as this has been a dream of mine for many years. I want to fall asleep to the sounds.

I also would love to learn how to surf because it looks amazing, but also because I have a slight fear of the ocean (which is nuts coming from a Floridian, but then again, I did not learn how to swim until my 20s!).

I'm also looking to become involved in environmental activism. Waste minimization is an important part of my life. I am firmly against "throwaway" and single-use culture. So it's very important to me that sustainability practices, like recycling, reducing and reusing, are also important to hosts. :-)

*Very good at cleaning, organizing and creating a welcoming space

*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Administration/Reception - I worked as a legal assistant for over 6 years (I've since transitioned into the information security field) but I am skilled in office management

*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Teaching English- I have taught English to young learners for only 6 months, however I have received TEFL
Certification and I'm looking to receive a specialization in teaching young learners. I am constantly seeking improvement, so an opportunity to teach in person would be awesome

*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Working in the yard - I enjoy helping my family mow/edge the lawn, mulch and plant stuff. Love to create bee and butterfly gardens.

*Very savvy with computers and computer science, and knowledgeable about Cybersecurity as well. I recently graduated from a Cybersecurity program in May 2024. So I'd love to help with any computer / internet related tasks.
