Who are we as a couple?

We are Simone (30) and Flavia (25), an Italian couple with roots in the heart of wonderful Southern Italy. We share the choice of a vegetarian diet, traditional Italian cuisine and an innate love for nature and animals. We love camping, mountains, lakes and rivers, but also cities rich in history and architecture. The search for meaningful experiences constantly guides us, which is also why we are on Workaway. Through our travels and life's adventures, we are excited to share our story and enrich anyone who decides to join us. Our distinctive characteristics include a rich wealth of experience, a natural predisposition to learning new skills and responsibilities. What is our greatest desire? We simply want the opportunity to share who we are in any way we can. An example? We love preparing delicious dishes for our guests and sharing life stories and unique experiences beyond work. Our ambition is to feel part of a community, while maintaining our independence in daily activities. We are respectful of duties and privacy :) We both speak English (B2) and have a level (A1) of French and would be happy to teach Italian. We would like to learn other languages too :)

Who are we beyond the couple?

Simone, born and raised in Rome, is an excellent professor of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Scientific subjects with a master's degree in Organic Chemistry. His passion for music leads him to play rock'n'roll on the ukulele, swing dance and practice fencing (and he is also a very good rusty pianist!). He has a green thumb by taking care of an urban vegetable garden. He is also good at sewing! He volunteered in associations for the homless in his city. His extraordinary patience and teaching ability have contributed to consolidating his career as a teacher, of any subject or interest. Having grown up in Rome, he will be able to tell you all about the famous eternal city, rich in thousand-year-old history and culture. Simone is always ready to tell funny stories and recently got back to driving a small sailboat!

Flavia has a master's degree in ethology and a bachelor degree in animal production and wildlife management. For over a decade she has passionately dedicated herself to the management of shelters and recovery centers for pets and wildlife in Italy. She conducted research while living in Africa on the protection of penguins and the study of their vocalizations, for conservation. Her passion for animals has led her to work with creatures of all kinds, from domestic to wild and exotic fauna. She has lived in various cities in contact with many different people, in the meantime always working as a babysitter (with children from 1 year up to 15 years). She wrote a column on animals collaborating with an online magazine and managed social pages for associations. As a volunteer in recent years she has been in social houses for children and associations for the elderly. Her creative side is expressed by dabbling with the ukulele (she's not as good as Simone), the khalimba, decoupage, creating polymer clay jewelry and beads.
