Descrição
Raglan is famous for its black sand beach and amazing surfing .
We are Jill and Paul (in our 60’s): We are currently looking for a dog and house sitter from 27 December until 2 January (can stay with us for a bit longer if required when we return on 2 January.) If you love dogs and are content to be "home" most of the time, then this could be a job for you!
Our dogs are Dougie (Lab cross English Bulldog). He is just over 1 and super gorgeous and friendly. He LOVES friends, especially furry friends, so can be a bit of an escape artist, but we generally know where he goes to visit. We give him 4 walks a day - a fairly long one in the morning (30 minutes) and then short (10 minute) walks interspersed through the day to keep him from wandering.
Our other dog is Morrison, a 12 year old Boxer. He is very sweet and a bit slow so only needs short walks because of his arthritis. He loves to hang outside and never wanders from the property so easy to look after.
Our home is newly built and situated on the edge of the estuary at Rangitahi Peninsula, Raglan. Our home is warm, sunny and comfortable and has amazing water views and is surrounded by lots of bush walks. Our Workaway guests have their own bedroom and bathroom and access to their own lounge if required.
Raglan is a very popular destination for young people from all over the world. It is renowned for its sustainability and many enterprising small businesses e.g. Raglan coconut yoghurt, Dreamview Dairy, The Workshop Brewing Company, Tony Sly Potteries, Soul shoes and bags.
We have hosted many students and workaways in our homes (Auckland and Raglan) over the years. Our current projects include dog walking, gardening, painting, and cleaning.

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
We have hosted foreign language students who come to learn English so are very used to having people of different cultures and languages in our home and helping them feel welcome. We live in a lovely coastal town called Raglan, two hours drive from Auckland. There are buses from Auckland to Hamilton and a regular bus service from Hamilton to Raglan. The centre of town is a 20 minute walk from where we live.

Ajuda
If you love dogs and are happy to stay at home for much of the day so the dogs have company, then you may be right for our house and pet sitting for 5 days at the end of December 2025. Other duties will be light during your stay and include keeping the house clean and tidy and watering the garden. We are looking for a responsible reliable person or couple.
We have recently moved into our new house and now we have lots of finishing to do like cleaning windows and the house exterior; painting doors and skirting boards, some cleaning and gardening. We expect our workaways to offer between 4 and 5 hours per day in return for board and meals. We are flexible regarding what time they do their work.

We were warmly welcomed by Paul and Gemgem (the queen of the house). We had a wonderful week eating Paul's great food and listening to his historical anecdotes.
We mainly cleaned around the house and painted the interior.
