Hi I’m Erin I'm 24 years old and currently live in the UK (Though I have an irish passport) I'm interested in both paid working positions, volunteer roles and farmstays ☺️

My Current Job -
I currently work as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities in a residential home. This is a job I've done for 2 years now , although it can be demanding and challenging at times, I find it extremely rewarding.

Why Travel now ?
Up until recently I spent 10 years being a carer for my Nan until she sadly passed away this April.
I loved my Nan deeply , she was my best friend and not your stereotypical Nan. I know she'd like to see me happy and following my dreams, and that is why I have joined Workaway.

I've always loved travel , meeting new people and wish to experience as much of the world as possible. I studied history and religious studies at university and have a great appreciation for just how vast the world is and how much history it holds.

My personality -
I'm a happy , enthusiastic , energetic individual, outgoing, I work well with others but am also self motivated and able to work well on my own.

Interests -
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and helping others.
The theatre is a big love of mine and I've seen many shows with my favourite musical being - fiddler on the roof or Les Miserables
Other hobbies include reading , going , yoga, going to the gym and Aerial arts ! I may be small but I’m strong and not afraid of hard work ☺️

I also love music, I have been attempting to teach myself tin whistle for years though I unfortunately did not inherit my family's musical ear or sense of timing though.

Quais são suas habilidades?
I have a lot of experience looking after young people and children. During my school years I volunteered at my local church youth group as a leader. After school I worked for NCS (national citizenship service) as a youth leader over the summer. This involved me supporting young people on outdoor activities, helping them prepare for university life ; where they spent a week staying In university accommodation learning to budget and cook for themselves then finally leading them in a week of organising a social action project for their local area.

Last year I started aerial classes and I now currently assist teaching a children’s aerial and gymnastics class every week. I really enjoy teaching, and love watching the children I teach grow in confidence each week.

I'm a keen cook, and am forever inviting family and friends over for food , though sometimes they just invite themselves over and tell me I'm cooking 😂

I've also worked as a security guard , bartender in a b&b , cinema host and in fast food.

I’m always willing to try new things, I'm a hard worker , motivated and working in care means im used to 15 hour shifts . Everything I do I put 100% effort into. I like being busy and most importantly I appreciate sharing knowledge and learning from others.

I'm struggling to find the right words to begin this review because there's just so much to say!! ✨

It all began with a last-minute message to Flame, as I hadn't initially planned on returning to Portugal. Her quick responses set the wheels in motion, and suddenly, I found myself on a plane, about to embark on the most unforgettable 3 weeks of… read more my life in Portugal, and I was going to be part of a show ☺️

Flame is not just a host; she's a remarkable individual. She's the funniest, kindest, and most caring person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the moment she picked me and my fellow volunteer up from the bus stop in Nazare, she made sure we were well-fed and, more importantly, made us feel like we'd been friends for years🧚‍♀️

The work we were assigned was simple, yet provided a sense of satisfaction, We helped out with gardening, painting, and keeping the house clean & tidy. We all took it in turns to cook & wash up.

But it wasn't all work; the real magic happened when we prepared for the show. Flame is not only an exceptional host but also one a truly talented, experienced and patient teacher. Despite having only 2 weeks to prepare for a show and dealing with a storm and a weeks worth of rain that limited our rehearsal time, Flame managed to teach us fire skills and introduced me to a new aerial discipline!!
I had never performed in front of a large crowd before , set foot on a trapeze ( let alone done a doubles trapeze act) or knew any fire skills.
But with just a few practice sessions, I was amazed at how much I grew in confidence, thanks to her guidance. I'll be forever grateful for her belief in my potential! I actually managed to smile while performing and start to enjoy being on stage ( which would of never of happened without her constant support) ✨
and we smashed that doubles trapeze routine 💕

Flame also ensured that we weren't just workers; we were tourists too. On days off, she drove us to nearby towns and provided invaluable recommendations for the must-see sights, where to eat , museums etc

If you ever have the opportunity to work and stay here, seize it without hesitation. You won't regret it. The village where Flame resides may be small, but it's surrounded by breathtaking scenery. A half-hour walk leads to an abandoned village waiting to be explored, and the neighbors are some of the most welcoming and friendly people you'll ever meet.

I'm already planning my return trip ☺️
