Hello everyone!
My name is Elena, I am 18 years old and am from Germany. I graduated in April and started my travel in July! I went to Europe this summer and in september, I arrived in Canada.
I am so excited to see the world, step out of my comfort zone and meet so many new people. My trip to Europe showed me how many amazing people exist out there and how easy it is to get to know someone new. I loved exploring new cities but being in nature gives me a sense of peace.
In my free time I enjoy reading, meeting friends and doing sports. I also love cooking. During the pandemic it was my way to feel joy and care about myself and my surroundings. It is also a very useful skill to know how to turn some random ingredients into a delicious meal :)
I am interested in learning new things. Be it a new sport or a new cooking skill or a foreign language. If I am interested in something, I am very ambitious to master the skill and improve it. For example, the french language has been so impressive to me since I came across it in 6th grade. I was very interested in the language and the culture so I did several DELF certificates (B2 being the highest) and got to use my language skills in a trip to France about two years ago.
Apart from that, I like to feel independet and realising this desire by working. I have some experience in teaching children, working as a waitress and selling vegetables at a farmer's market. I am open minded to any kind of work. I see it as a necessary part of live to work for getting things as they usually don't fall from the sky :) Mostly, I find pleasure in the work I do as it gives me a goal and a sense of being needed.
I hope to meet a lot of new people and connect with them and their culture.

I love to learn the origin and rules of different languages while teachin the ones I speak to others. I think it is very interesting to be able to understand what people from foreign countries talk about.

Quais são suas habilidades?
I teached children maths and french after school for about two years. I tried my best to influence them in a good way and enable them to understand (mathematical) coherences by themselves. I can connect with children and have fun with them while knowing my responsibility for them.
During the pandemic I learned to cook. I love being in the kitchen and experimentig with different ingredients. Especially the vegan cuisine interests me as I am aware of the consequences of intensive animal husbandry for the environement, the animals and ourselves but I am open to food from everywhere as I truly believe that food can bring people together and teach them a lot about each other.
I am currently working at a restaurant. In the summertime there is an outdoor space where I serve people. During winter, I help with running events such as parties, birthdays or carnival events with 200-400 people. I like working in a team and with people. It brings me joy to know that my work makes people enjoy their evening and have a good time.
Furthermore, I have previously helped at a farmer's market selling vegetables. It wasn't easy getting up at 6:30 on saturday morning's but it taught me a lot about discipline (and that I'm very tired after spending 4 hours outside in the early morning). I liked selling vegetables and knowing their origin while forming connections to the usual customers.

I played tennis and field hockey both for about five years.
Now, I play badminton and I like to go for runs and do strength training.
I am able to play piano and saxophone.
Apart from the things I am already able to do, I love to learn new things and am open to everything. I think the process of practicing a new skill is so intersting and it is certainly an incredible feeling of mastering things!
