  • Descrição

We live lives of purpose and passion, adventure and connection, wholeness, authenticity, integrity, and well-being. We value meaningful connection, learning and growing as individuals and as a family, and the reciprocity of service and regenerative work in the world. We love our home (which we designed and built ourselves) in Colorado, and we also love to travel and explore the world. We consider ourselves global citizens. We traveled individually before we met and married and have continued to journey domestically and internationally with our family.
We love spending quality time with one another, with our wonderful three children (ages 15,14,12), and with our extended family and friends. We are excited about opportunities to learn more about other countries, localities, and cultures as we expand our community and ourselves.
We see WorkAway as the next chapter for us as we seek even more meaningful ways to experience our world, build our skills and understanding, and share our own talents with others.
As a family unit, we have many skills to contribute, including: building / construction, cooking/ baking, gardening, education, tutoring, child engagement and enrichment, personal coaching, leadership facilitation and team development, pottery / painting/ art / crafting, animal care.
We are curious, tenacious, playful, adventurous, caring. We love to engage multi-generationally and multi-culturally. We enjoy both hard-work and hard-play. We want to experience ways of living and being that go beyond what the cultural majority accepts as "good enough", as we design a life of joy and fulfillment. We are so excited to connect with others who are living lives different from our own.

Mais detalhes sobre meu interesse em idiomas
Arthur speaks some French and Spanish - and would love to practice and build those skills. Brandy speaks Spanish - and really wants to improve her skills in that language as well as build skills in other latin based languages (or others!) The kids have been exposed to Spanish in several of our prior travels and can understand and speak some basics. All three are eager to learn!

  • Quais são suas habilidades?

Between the two of us, we bring decades of skills, experience, talents and passion wherever we go!
Arthur is a builder, potter, gardener, family chef, and an amazing dad and partner. He grew up on a cattle ranch, gaining a ton of experience with animals (cattle, pigs, sheep, horses), farming, and all types of tools and equipment. His specific skills and talents include (but are not limited to): carpentry, masonry, concrete work, tile work, sculpture, gardening, pottery, kiln building, clay and glaze development, fermenter (kimchi, pickling, kombucha), milking cows (making butter, cheese and yogurt), canning, baking sourdough bread, and cooking delicious, low-processed, whole foods. He speaks some French and Spanish in addition to native English.
Brandy is a coach, counselor, teacher, experiential educator, adventure guide (ropes courses, rafting), kid-wrangler, and community builder - and a deeply committed parent and partner. Her teaching and facilitating experience spans multiple ages and content areas, including middle school, high school, graduate and post-graduate school. Her passions include holistic (physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual) well-being, healing and transformation, leadership and team development, mission/vision/values work, effective communication, and sustainable / regenerative work in organizations large and small. She is a painter, potter, haircutter, and can also run a chainsaw, mower and many power tools! She partners with Arthur in the remodeling business and in the pottery studio when she isn't teaching / leading / parenting / exploring in nature / making new friends!
Together, Brandy & Arthur are a dynamic duo who have teamed up on multiple projects - big and small! They own and operate a remodeling business and a family pottery. They designed and built their own home, and continue to dream and develop their family refuge. Currently, their home consists of a shop, pottery, garden, and treehouse... they may someday decide to host workaway volunteers themselves?!
The project we are most proud of and most committed to is being parents of three lovely humans - and co-designing a life of purpose and passion together with them.
What about the 3 kids? Their older daughters are CPR trained baby-sittters, creative artists and crafters who love engaging with young kids. Their younger son is a playful spirit who does not discriminate by age or gender, he just wants to play, connect, and explore the world. All three kids love to eat delicious home cooked food, read, swim, bike, and spend time in nature. We have spent several months together in Central America (Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica) over the past decade and are all anticipating our next adventure... coming soon, with your help!
We are interested in leading our authentic lives with integrity and according to our values. All five of us love traveling, learning, adventuring in nature, and connecting authentically with other great humans. We are looking for opportunities to volunteer/ live with others who love and appreciate the energy and idealism of teenagers and see them as the powerful future that they are! We love being connected to nature and are avid outdoor enthusiasts. We live fairly low-tech and avoid social media when possible. We aspire to continue to grow and evolve as individuals, as a couple, as a family, and as global citizens. Our aim is to bring joy and love to the places we visit and do our best to help make the world a better place!

  • Algo mais...

We covered as much as we could think about in our introduction... we are certain we missed at least a couple of things! How do you convey a lifetime (let alone 5) on a website?
We are both native Coloradoans - and have lived and traveled in many other countries.
Our kids are excited about exploring the world and building global friendships.
Brandy loves baking cookies - all of us love sharing and eating them!
Trampolines are fun! The kids want to learn to surf... and horseback ride. We love music - but don't play any instruments... yet. We enjoy camping, campfires, rafting, hiking, biking, and occasionally hanging out in a hammock! So much more we could add.... but it would be so much more fun to get to know one another in person! ;)
