Hi!
We are Ashleigh and Declan and we are travelling from Australia on working visas. For the last couple of months, we have been road tripping across the east and west coast of Canada with our two friends and are now in the process of settling down and finding steady jobs. We are both enthusiastic and adventurous people, enjoying all this beautiful country has had to offer- from zip lining, white water rafting and exploring the outdoors. We also enjoy a slower pace of life, like unwinding with some tv or video games. We are positive, fast learning and punctual workers and look forward to using Workaway as an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and see more of the local day-to-day life of Canada!

Quais são suas habilidades?

Ashleigh:
I have been working in the education industry in Australia for almost 10 years. I have trained as a preschool and primary (elementary) school teacher and was, up until recently, working with a class of 30 children and mentoring a team of 20 educators. This year I decided it was time for a change, which is when I packed up my life, applied for my working visa and got on a plane! Declan and I initially travelled around his home country of Ireland for a few weeks before flying to Canada to meet my two friends. It has been such an incredible adventure so far and I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring Canada's gorgeous scenery, towns and learning all about the history of this country.
Although most of my work experience is in teaching, I find that this occupation has enabled me to develop a myriad of transferrable skills that I believe will assist me in my Workaway jobs and future professions. Skills like responsibility, independence, punctuality, a desire to learn, flexibility and adaptability to change, problem-solving, empathy and collaboration were pivotal to my teaching job, and I believe will assist me in learning and carrying out any tasks handed to me. Myself and our travelling group have also just spent the past two weeks on a farm through Workaway, in which time I took part in learning new skills and assisting with projects surrounding gardening, painting and assisting with household errands, cleaning and cooking.
Outside of teaching, my past times include catching up on what's new on Netflix, video games, listening to music and podcasts and exploring the local cafes, pubs and night life. I love having a cocktail at the end of the day while enjoying a nice view or finding a good brunch spot. I absolutely love love love dogs and my favourite part of travelling so far has been finding Canadian animals in the wild like bears, beavers and even moose! If you have any good pub or lookout recommendations, let me know!

Declan:
Throughout my childhood and growing up, I have been on a constant move; travelling from country to country, school to school, making new friends every few years and learning new life experiences as I went along. Living in Australia, Ireland and Dubai has given me a deep knowledge into different lifestyles, cultures and traditions that have allowed me to appreciate the world and all it has to offer.
Throughout my adulthood, my career paths have largely been customer-forward; from the food industry to hospitality, sales and general customer service roles. I have developed a multitude of skills to assist in my everyday life, from food preparation, machinery operation, technology knowledge to communication skills just to name a few. Alongside this, I recently completed a 2-week Workaway situated on a farm, greatly broadening my knowledge and skills relating to more hands-on jobs such as painting, weeding, power washing, mowing as well as a vast array of general day-to-day tasks.
I have always been a very active and energetic person, eager to exercise and keep fit, but also very happy to relax and unwind after a long day with some tv or gaming with a drink in hand. I am generally a quiet and to myself sort of person, preferring a night inside watching tv over one out in the town, but I am also fond of socialising from time to time. I love to explore; whether it's walking the streets of a new town, going for a hike or driving to a new location, there's nothing quite like experiencing something for the first time. Exploring Canada these last few weeks have been an absolute treat, every day has been a new adventure and the constant enjoyment that has come from seeing new sights and trying new things never gets old!

Collectively, we both enjoy board games, card games, music, movies and video games. We are always up for an outdoor adventure or exploring somewhere new. We welcome any recommendations of cool places to check out in the area or events that are happening- we wouldn't say no to some live music and a cocktail! We are open to learning new things and picking up some new skills so don't be afraid to give us some pointers or projects to dig into! We look forward to hearing from you and helping in any way that we can.
