Descrição

Hello, we are Holly and Asher. We are both 24 years old. We are travelling through Central and South America, starting at Mexico CIty in January 2024. We have no set route and are open minded to any opportunities!

Holly - I have just graduated with a master’s degree in International Development and have a keen interest in human rights, humanitarianism and culture. My hobbies include walking, reading and exploring. I love learning and find joy in new experiences and meeting new people. I have experience volunteering with the homeless in Manchester, UK , as a social media coordinator for two African charities and most recently in an animal shelter in Greece for dogs, farm animals and equestrians. I am open to new experiences and have a lust for life!

Asher - I have just left work as a rock climbing instructor. I love all things outdoors, being active and using my hands. Like Holly I have also worked with humanitarian charities, as well as having experience in gardening and site management. We chose Central and South America to see another part of the world, and I’d like to take part in workaways to extend the trip it and broaden the experience.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Holly
I have competed two degrees in humanitarianism, disaster management and reconstruction. I am very passionate about this. I currently work as an eLearning technologist for a university, providing technical support to facilitate education. I have a reasonable understanding of technology, social media and teaching these skills to people.

My friends often consider me as a people person, I will talk to anyone! I am very interested in forming connections and having meaningful conversations with others. I only speak English, but am learning Spanish (very much a beginner).

I adore animals and children and love looking after them. I really care about making a difference and work hard. I have a sister who is 9 years younger than me so I always grew up with younger siblings, I really get kids! I have worked with bourse, mules, donkies, cats and dogs.

I was a pastry chef for a cafe, so have baking knowledge and skills, as well as being bar-trained. I am always very keen to try new things and get stuck into tasks, I try to always bring a positive attitude to things!


Ash
I work as a rock climbing instructor. This requires good communication and an ability to teach with patience, whilst keeping control of situation. I spend a lot of time climbing British rock faces where I have to be adaptable, fit, and confident with rigging equipment.

I have work experience and take pleasure in gardening, looking after animals (alpacas, goats, geese, chickens), and general site management jobs. I don’t shy away from physical or hard work and take pride in doing a job properly.

I’m also very socially conscious. I have campaigned for UNICEF, New Internationalist, and have a degree in Politics and International Relations. All of this stems from my interest in communities, society, and making the world a better place.
