Hi,
I'm Anna and I love thunderstorms, mousse au chocolat, good movies and the sea! I'm 26 years old and currently I took some time off to travel the world. I'm a passionate swimmer and in my freetime I enjoy to do Babysitting, photography and other creative things, I like to discover new things and I enjoy dancing, cooking and baking.
I'm open-minded, trustworthy and curious.

I spent three weeks here and learned very much about the maintainance of a B&B and the guest service! I had a lot of good food and most importantly I met wonderful people and had a great time! A huge thank you to Roger, Sam, Amélie, VeeJay, Nolwenn and the other nice people (and animals) that made my stay a very good experience!!

The first two… read more weeks I have been the only workawayer being there. But it was great! Most of the time I spent with Roger, which is why my English improved a lot I guess, but I also got to know his family. You as a workawayer are not only a part of the team but of the family as well!

They give you a lot of confidence and involve you in all kind of activities. You have a lot of freedom to create your own projects. Roger is happy about every new perspective and idea, good advices, motivation and positive minds and grateful for every contribution to this place! He appreciates your work. Furthermore he enjoys good company and his English humor is great! :blush:

The typical day to day tasks include preparing and serving breakfast, cleaning the kitchen, sometimes helping to do the rooms, grocery shopping, preparing dinner, answering emails and phone calls, managing the bookings, dealing with all the websites and calenders and of course: welcoming and chatting with the guests and especially helping Roger to communicate with them (in French:wink:).

I didnt really considered the work to be hard work because it was fun and you never get bored! I loved the feeling of being productive and having accomplished something at the end oft he day. So many new ideas came into my mind and I really enjoyed discussing and fulfilling them.

In my third week Amélie joined us :blush: and it was amazing! We had so much fun!! I was happy to talk French to her, try to find solutions and enjoyed the days off.

Coming to the days off, the Normandy has a lot of beautiful places which are not too far away from the B&B. When the day didn‘t seem to be too busy we went out to visit a city/village or monument. I saw the Mont St. Michel, the D-Day beaches, the German and the American cemetery, Bayeux, St. Malo, Dinan, Granville, Avranches, the Christian Dior garden,….Sometimes we prepared a picknick or Roger took us to a restaurant where we could spent hours of talking and eating.

One oft he best memories I have is running with Amélie through the garden, while it was heavily raining, but we needed to bring the goats in and feed them. But the simple are those which matter. For example long good conversations to keep each other awake during a boring car ride, scrambled eggs from your own chicken in the garden, meeting guest from all around the world and listening to their stories, overcoming language obstacles, getting a hug from a happy client or a small tip as an appreciation of your work and kindness.

This 300 year old little chateau, how I like to call it, has a lot of small issues, but also a lot of potential and Roger makes great effort to make it the best possible. So if you have any „special talents“ or interests, such as cooking, gardening, decoration, crafting, design/ computer skills, you will always find a good amount of work! So don‘t hesitate to send your application to this wonderful place!
