Bonjour! :D
I am Ana from Galicia, a dreamer, farmer, beginner basket weaver and hopefully soon an engineer.
I study chemical engineering in Santiago de Compostela and my dream is to connect my studies with my parent's farm and make a living out of it, enjoying the peaceful life in the countryside close to the ocean and help the rural to face depopulation. I am also a workaway host: https://www.workaway.info/es/host/172316174357 and the community manager of our farm IG account: @comoxoorganics
At the moment I am doing an exchange at USP in São Paulo and I want to make the most out of my year here in Brasil, so I am looking for short term volunteering experiences (close to São Paulo) and for the month of December/January I would like to go a bit further and volunteer in a Agrofloresta to learn about agroforestry system and bring back home the knowledge I will gain.Interesses

Quais são suas habilidades?
FARMING and COOKING:
I am a very hardworking girl as I am daughter of two Galician farmers. I can do many things related to agriculture like prunning (only kiwitrees and vineyards), grafting, planting and harvesting. I can cook very well and I love to do it!! My speciality are Galician empanadas, I also make the dough ;)
TEACHING and IT skills:
I can teach, I already have experience as German, English and Robotics teacher. I am patient and empathetic to my students. Teaching robotics also helped me to develop my IT and programming skills even more than at University. I can do 3D design and a bit of website development with HTML and CSS, and programming.
ART, MUSIC and DRAMA:
I can paint and draw, I've been going to painting classes where I developed skills like charcoal drawing, oil, acrylic and ink painting, since I am a child until I was 15 years old. I stopped because I wasn't motivated anymore, the way of teaching was too traditional and the teachers didn't help me to develop my imagination skills, which I think it is one of the most important things when it comes to art.
I did a course of ceramics and during the pandemic I've started to learn basket weaving with an elderly neighbor from the village. I try to make baskets since then during the months of February and March, when the wicker is flexible.
I can dance salsa, bachata and merengue because I did a course with some friends when I was 12 years old. I can also dance Galician folk dance as I am member of Xilbarbeira, a Galician dance group from my hometown since I am 15 years old but now I am starting contemporary dance. I can also play the tambourine and a bit the ukulele. I did 2 years of theater in Highschool so I can also be a bit silly and dramatic ;)
I've worked every summer since I am 16 years old and every job I had I always did it with passion, and because of this I consider myself a fast learner. I worked in Colorado one summer as babysitter and did some gardening, the next summer I worked as a waitress in my hometown and my favourite thing to do was to make the foam of the coffee, so I was really good at it! The next summer I went to Germany as an Au Pair to learn the language, and the summer afterwards I went back to Germany and worked hard in a Hotel preparing breakfasts, cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms and sometimes being a Recepcionist. The summer afterwards I found an Austrian family that came to Portosín and I was their babysitter and last summer I worked as a Research Fellow at the Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Portugal, this internship I loved it because I was surrounded by foreigners and learned a lot about Nanotechnology, which is a wide interesting field!
I also did workaway in France in a cheese farm (I learned how to make cheese!!) and at La Maison CHA-RI-VA-RI, a very nice maison d'hôtes helping with breakfasts and cleaning. My last workaway was this spring break in Portugal, at Lugar do Olhar Feliz, I learned soooo much there about citrus and essential oils.Idade

Algo mais...
I like to help and make people happy, like Amelie. I love to learn new things and share what I know! Chemical Engineering is not my biggest passion, but I am really into the fermentation process and beverage technology (to make wine or distillate) or agriculture, environment and arts. I like many different things, from surfing and biking, to painting and ceramics, science and agriculture... and many more things. I am also a very friendly and openminded person that loves to connect with others, hear their stories and learn from them :)
