Hello everyone 😊

My name is Alexandra, I’m 23 years old, and I come from Germany. I recently completed my Bachelor's degree in Social Work and now I’m excited to explore the world, step out of my comfort zone, and develop new skills while traveling. This is my first time doing Workaway, and I’m really looking forward to meeting amazing people and gaining new experiences!

Thanks to my studies, I have a lot of experience working with people, especially children and teenagers. I did a voluntary social year at a Montessori school, working with children aged 6-12, and I also worked as a social worker in a secondary school, supporting teenagers between 12-17 years old. Additionally, I have accompanied school trips to England and ski camps with German schools. Beyond working with children, I also completed an internship at a senior citizens' advisory center. Alongside my studies, I worked in retail until recently.

I’m open to working in many different areas! I love working with children, but I’m also happy to help with animals or get involved in hands-on, practical tasks. I enjoy learning new things and am always up for a challenge.

In my free time, I love being active and doing sports. I actually attended a sports school and practiced acrobatic gymnastics at a competitive level for 12 years—so if you want to learn a handstand or a split, I’d be happy to teach you! I also enjoy being creative, whether it’s painting, crafting with my nephews, or baking cakes. When I need some time for myself, I like to go for walks in nature, often accompanied by my mom’s dog, Ivar.

Family is very important to me. I grew up with two siblings, and my two wonderful nephews (currently 9 and 4 years old) have been part of my life for quite some time now—I absolutely adore them and babysit them regularly.

I can’t wait to start this adventure, meet new people, and learn from different cultures. Looking forward to what’s ahead! 😊

I am very eager to refresh and improve my English skills. I studied it for many years in school and can read English novels without any problems. However, since I rarely use English in my daily life, I’m not very confident when speaking. I’m excited for the opportunity to practice and become more fluent! I am also very interested in learning other languages and would love to immerse myself in new cultures and ways of communicating. 😊

Quais são suas habilidades?

I have a strong academic background with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, graduating with excellent results. Through my extensive practical experience, I have learned to work effectively with people of different ages and cultural backgrounds.

One of my strengths is connecting with people through sports. Having competed in sports myself, I have also worked as a volunteer coach for children and have experience in senior sports. Additionally, I enjoy engaging with children through creative activities. I have led fun arts and crafts workshops in elementary schools, where the focus was on self-expression and enjoyment rather than perfection.

I am also comfortable working with animals and have experience caring for dogs, regularly looking after my sister’s Australian Shepherd, Emmi, and my mother’s dog, Ivar.

While I am not a professional, I consider myself quite handy. During my voluntary social year, I even built a small shed, which was a great learning experience.

Lastly, I love baking and cooking, especially vegetarian and vegan dishes. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and sharing meals with others.

I am open to learning new skills and always excited for new challenges! 😊
