Hello, My name is Adrianne and I am a traveler, graphics designer and a social media manager. I travel alone and find peace in what I do. A tranquil rural places makes my mind and soul at ease. It makes me feel happy and contented being alive. I grew up in a rural town in the southern island of the Philippines. The sea, forest and rice fields is what makes my life special. Having to enjoy every bit of nature has to offer has made me feel blessed.

I am always a farm boy, My family owns a 5 hectare farm land in the Phillipines. I raise goats, chicken, ducks, pigs. I also plant fruit trees native to south east Asia like durian and avocados, banana herbs and more. I always love those days but due to work and responsibilities, I decided to move to bigger cities in order to find a job. The exhaustion and life in bigger cities is never sit in well with me.

Now I am here it Portugal doing volunteer work on different environments like farms and hostels. I hope I could explore more beautiful and peaceful places that I yearn for to learn and grow as a person.

Quais são suas habilidades?
My family owns a farm land in the Philippines and I gained important experiences throughout the years. I know how to raise chickens, goats, pigs, plant fruit trees and other crops. I also have experience in carpentry as we use to make sheds for producing coconut copra and coconut shell charcoal. I am not some sensitive city boy who cringes from physical and dirty jobs. I also know how to fix computers :)

I like surfing and used to surf in the Philippines. I also love fish keeping. I've been raising and breeding aquarium fish since I was very young. Hope I could keep a fish or two while I stay here in Portugal.

Being away from my home country the Philippines has taken a great toll on me mentally and physically. The urge to chase that dream of travelling the world became apparent that it is never an easy task. To me, just being in Portugal is an accomplishment most of my countrymen would ever dream of achieving. Vague as it… read more seems, the world fatefully attracts me to places where I would mostly belong. This is my first workaway, a decision I made on a whim thinking this would would solve all my problems abroad. Never in my right mind would I expect and experience such turbulent rollercoaster of adventures and emotions!

This Workaway definitely exceeds my expectation! Being off-grid, this farm technically is able to withstand the test of time! From solar panels to provide power to the entire house, to the complex irrigation system that waters different fields, this farm is well planned out thanks to my host and the one I consider one of my best mentor, Fernando. This man has provided me with so much knowledge and wisdom that you cant find anywhere else in this world. He has taught me so much even just by observing him work! Taking me in as one of his volunteers in his farm has been a great blessing for me. Great food, great accommodation and great learned knowledge of the basic things a person should learn. To Fernando, my host, I wish you well and I hope to see you again in the future. You have been a great inspiration to the younger generation and to me. A roof over my head is all I ask for but you have provided me with so much more and I am in debt for all the things you have provided me.

To the wonderful people whom I've met in this farm, Thank you for letting my emotions flow. You guys are amazing! The community life in this farm is awesome! I cant believe I would make such good friends with so many people from all over the word. From making flan to just simple hanging out by the lake side makes me wish to make days longer as I venture to make deeper connections with different people.

A piece of advice to the new volunteers who are arriving at this workaway, be aware of the 20+ tigers because they are battle hungry and will steal your food if you are not wary, three massive wolves that eats your belongings when you leave it unattended outside. There is also a war horse that topples chairs, has the habit of entering the kingdom uninvited and you always need a special elixir(carrot) to keep her at bay.

Fernando, I pray for your good health and thank you for this experience and I hope in the coming months, I will see your visions come into life! Salamat sa lahat!
