My name is Zak and I'm from Newcastle in the North-East of England. I spend a lot of my free time doing triathlon sports and weight training, as well as playing the piano and reading. I also have an interest in learning languages. I've always had a passion for travelling because it's the best way to understand other cultures and ways of life - which I think is incredibly important. I'm keen to become more knowledgeable about the world so I can better make a positive difference and I believe the best way to learn more is through experiencing new places and meeting a variety of people.

I have experience volunteering in nature reserves where I would use various tools to construct and repair pathways in the mountains and forests, as well as doing housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and cooking around the volunteer's accommodation. I've also worked in hospitality before as a restaurant host and have skills and experience in greeting and serving guests, as well as reception administration tasks.

Zac stayed at the station a week. Straight forward, easy going, very good and practical worker. Was a pity he had cat allergies, as his contribution was really beyond what I expect from any volunteer . If Zac volunteers at your project, count yourself lucky. Thanks Zac. I spent one week at the station with Jam and two other volunteers. Jam was a very accommodating host and took time to share the local area by taking us around in his car. The work was quite easy and enjoyable - I spent the week painting the windows on the front of the station.

I spent two weeks at the hostel and I had an amazing time! I was one of ten volunteers and four amazing staff members and I made some great friends staying there. Most of the time I was doing gardening and construction work but I also got to try out other tasks like cooking and cleaning.

I spent six weeks at this place and I loved every second of it. It is by far the best workaway I have done and I would confidently recommend it to others thinking of going.

This was an absolutely incredible place with beautiful scenery and amazing people. However, I felt my stay there was somewhat spoiled by a difficult to deal with host.
