Hi! I’m Yanitsa!

I’m a 27 year old writer so my job online is very flexible! I have worked as an outdoor educator, photographer, teacher, and am a lifelong learner currently studying my Master’s degree online in Environmental Management through Western Colorado University. My work and studies focus on sustainable communities, storytelling, and building deeper relationships between people and the land.

For the past three years I lived in Leadville, Colorado — the highest incorporated city in the United States — before beginning to travel more intentionally and slowly. I then moved to Mexico and have been here in both Sayulita and then Baja California Sur.

Along the way, I met my partner Alejandro in Sayulita, Mexico while I was house and dog sitting for two large dogs. Alejandro is from Guadalajara, Mexico and is a chef who has owned and run his own taquerías. He went to culinary school and also specializes in cocktails and mixology. Cooking and sharing food are some of his greatest joys, and he loves bringing people together around good meals.

Alejandro is deeply passionate about the ocean and feels most at home near the beach. He loves music, singing out loud, spending time with friends, and creating joyful environments wherever he goes. He is also incredibly good with animals and has experience caring for dogs of all sizes and backgrounds.

Together we are a creative and grounded team. We both love hiking, being outdoors, and exploring nature. We enjoy painting mandalas, dancing, cooking together, and connecting with people from different cultures.

We’ve also worked together on boats in Baja California — Alejandro as a marinero (deckhand) and me as a photographer capturing guests’ experiences on the water. Through this work we developed strong teamwork skills, responsibility, and the ability to care for both people and animals in dynamic environments.

A few things about us:

🐕 We travel with our small dog named Chuiquis, who is very friendly and used to being around other animals
🌎 We value cultural exchange, meaningful conversations, and learning from communities around the world

I also bring experience in outdoor education, youth leadership, social media and digital storytelling, and writing. I’ve led wilderness backpacking trips, taught Spanish, and worked in digital marketing for outdoor education programs.

Right now we are looking for house sitting and pet sitting opportunities around the world where we can care for homes and animals with respect and responsibility while experiencing new places slowly and authentically.

We treat every home we stay in as if it were our own and truly enjoy caring for animals and creating warm, respectful spaces wherever we are.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I bring a wide range of skills and a genuine love for meaningful, hands-on work. My background is rooted in both education and community-based projects, and I thrive in spaces where I can contribute creatively, thoughtfully, and with care.

🌿 Cooking & Cleaning:
I grew up in a multigenerational household where cooking was an act of love and care. I’m comfortable preparing meals for large groups and keeping shared spaces clean, organized, and welcoming.

🌱 Outdoor Work & Gardening:
I have experience working outdoors in both educational and volunteer settings. I’m comfortable with physical tasks like yard work, weeding, planting, trail maintenance, and basic land care. I find joy in being outside and contributing to spaces that nourish others.

🎓 Teaching & Academia:
I’ve worked as a high school Spanish teacher and currently study Environmental Management with a focus on resilient and sustainable communities. I'm skilled in curriculum design, facilitating workshops, and supporting others in their learning process. I'm a strong writer, researcher, and communicator.

🤲🏽 Community Building:
My work has always centered around relationship-building. Whether in schools, on outdoor trips, or through ceremony, I value creating inclusive, connected environments. I show up with empathy and adaptability.

💻 Digital Marketing & Social Media:
I currently work as a social media assistant for a language school, managing content creation, strategy, and platform engagement. I’m comfortable with tools like Canva, Instagram, email marketing platforms, and storytelling through digital media.

🧠 Independent & Self-Motivated:
I’m a quick learner who takes initiative. As a remote grad student and solo traveler, I’ve built strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills. I love jumping into new experiences and learning along the way.

Most importantly, I bring heart, humility, and a willingness to help where needed — whether that’s in the kitchen, garden, classroom, or online.

I love connecting with people through shared joy and creativity. I’m always up for a good card game or board game night — one of my favorites is Sequence, (but I’ll play anything if you teach me!). Karaoke is one of my favorite pastimes — I’m all in.

I really enjoy watching movies, going to film festivals, and catching live theater or stand-up comedy when I can. I have a deep appreciation for storytelling in all its forms — from live performance to late-night jam sessions. I also write and sing original music, and love sharing songs around a campfire or in cozy living rooms.

A perfect evening for me might include a walk at sunset, a shared meal, some laughs, and a movie or concert to wind down the night.
