Hello!
My name is Tammy Kovaluk. After residing for several years in Bend Oregon and various places throughout Canada and the US, I am working on relocating to the Vernon area, hopefully for settling permanently. I love animals and nature/being outside, and believe in happiness in where you live.
I have a small business in sports conditioning and fitness coaching. I have also hosted events and embarked on personal challenges to support non profits. Personally, I am quite fit and compete in ultra endurance events, some of which included a blend of military, farm based, and strength challenges.
At this point, I am basically doing a few hours per week of online work, working on my teacher certification as a prequisite for become faculty at OCVMT, and am looking forward to teaching there in some capacity.
I have experience gardening / landscaping (especially for flower beds), a variety of odd jobs, as well farm/house sitting. This started a few years back to get through covid, and kept doing this as I enjoy it as a balance from my other work, get outside, and it helps to expand my skill set. In Bend, I lived in a tiny cabin and loved living outside the small city in a quiet place closer to nature. At the property, I started my mornings with horse chores that were boarded and used for a children riding program. I do not ride but quite enjoy mucking, feeding, moving hay etc and being around them.

I also volunteered at a farm sanctuary (Harmony Farm Sanctuary). The sanctuary has horses, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks and chickens. I enjoyed them all, but my favorite were the sheep!
You will hopefully find me a good helper. I am honest, respectful and reliable, like working outside - but am happy to also help inside - and work well independently.
In off time, I enjoy running, hiking and back packing, especially with my dog, using nature for strength training, and cross country skiing in winter.
I am ideally looking for a farm based work away but am open to many options per the right fit. My long term goal is to eventually have a little piece of property with my dog. Construction or building things, am not skilled at, but happy to be a helper. I can do simple tasks like painting.
Last summer, I was able to fulfill my dream of going to Switzerland for a "Heidi adventure" and really enjoyed Switzerland as well as the workaway. We did everything from picking cherries to gardening, tending to the sheep, and stacking wood!
I do have a wonderful dog that was rescued in summer of 2023 (in my profile picture). Actually, it was my work away when relocating back to Canada who who recommended him and helped facilitate the process! Understand this is a little different situation but would have to bring him with me. My dog Milo is a very good dog, does not bark, great with cats and dogs (he does like to play but will respect a dog's correction). Milo has been welcome to my gardening jobs and can provide references for him. I run or hike him almost everyday, and look forward to getting him into agility in the near future.
Thank you for your consideration.
