Hello fellow travellers and hosts:)
I’m Sofie, 24 years old and from Denmark. I'm currently studying literature at the university, but whenever I have time, I try to travel.
It's a lifestyle that makes me very happy, and I keep being surprised with the amount of good-hearted and beautiful people I can meet and create friendships with all around the world.

Before starting my studies I spend about two years traveling around Europe and Asia, a journey that teached me a lot about myself and the world we share.

I have countless of reasons to travel, but in general I am always curious to learn much more about different cultures and ways of living. I am a positive and calm person, who loves a balanced life of volounteering involving: giving, sharing, working, exploring and learning!

I prefer to travel slow and to take my time getting to know the places I visit.🌻

I'm finally visiting Costa Rica after years of wanting to go, and I am looking to volunteer in a few projects:)

Different experience:
Hostels: I have volunteered in a few hostels in both Nepal, India and the Faroe Islands. It has given me good communication skills, and as an open person, I always looove to chat with guests give them recommendations and make sure they have a lovely time.

I have worked on several farms, so I know the basics when it comes to working the land: clearing, planting, weeding, harvesting, maintaining. I have worked in farms with animals such as cows, donkeys, goats and chickens. I really enjoy working in farms because I love to work outside and do physical work with my body. I find it healthy and good for me. I would love to learn much more about permaculture and different types of natural farming!

I love being surrounded by animals and working with them.
Therefore I have also worked a lot with street dogs both in a dog shelter and a dog pension. I have a great passion for dogs and I have some knowledge in dog training and -behaviour.

Furthermore I have lived in a few community centres and volounteering these places as well. This has given me a lot of insight in cooperation and how to work together in solidarity. It has teached me much about listening, compromising and sharing.

Before I went travelling I worked three years in a pottery café. Here I worked with painting ceramics and guiding the costumers in painting techniques. This has given me a lot of knowledge in service and the handling of guests and customers. On top of this, it gave me much experience in glaze-painting and ceramics in general.

Furthermore I have volunteered with refugees in Denmark . I have been teaching some Danish and helping in everyday situations. Volounteering with refugees have been very meaningful and important to me. It has given me the clarity to understand that my wish is to one day work full time with refugees and their rights.

🦋Some things I love:
I love to read, and it is a great passion of mine. I really adore new nordic literature and old classics. Some of my favorite writers are Dostoyevsky, Proust, Virginia Woolf, Bulgakov, Kafka, Hamsun, Karl Ove Knausgaard, Jonas Eika & Carsten Jensen.
Also I love all sorts of creative craft-making. Such as Macramé, other jewellery, knitting, embroidery, drawing and painting. I am interested in all types of creative handwork and I can teach in making a great dreamcatcher.;)
One of my biggest interests is hiking! I feel energised and well-connected when I do trekking. I love the fresh air and being surrounded by mountains or lakes.
Another interest of mine is meditation, it gives me calmness and balance along side with yoga and tai chi. I really love these practices and I would enjoy to learn much more about them.
I love to be outside, and enjoy a more natural lifestyle and way of being, focusing on nature, spirituality, and sharing the surroundings with people around me. I feel myself being oppose to a fast life with a lot of stress. I prefer a balanced and slow life in peace and harmony.🌞🍃

Dear future hosts! just a disclaimer, I always like to take the first week of volounteering, to feel whether we are a good match. I of course want to be respectful and reliable, but I find it very important that we are compatible and that you also like me as a worker, before agreeing to stay long term.😌

I see myself as hardworking, and I will do my best to use the skills I have when volounteering, furthermore I am curious to learn all sorts of new skills:)
I love to go hiking and being active outdoors. Also I am very interested in art, and have worked a lot with potterypainting.
I love all sorts of crafting such as doing embroidery and knitting.
I am interested in language, and am fluent in English, and have taken classes in Italian and German.
I am also interested in charity work, and have both worked in a homework-café, where I helped children with schoolwork, and have teached new-danes Danish:-)
