Hello everyone,

My name is Simone, I am 50 years old and I live in Germany. I am at a stage in my life where I have the freedom and curiosity to discover new places, meet interesting people and experience different ways of living.

When I was younger, I travelled extensively around the world with a backpack. Those experiences taught me how enriching it can be to step into another culture and experience everyday life from a completely different perspective. That curiosity has never left me. I still love discovering new places, meeting people and learning about their lives, their country and their way of seeing the world.

At the same time, I am someone who genuinely enjoys solitude, peace and independence. I love good conversations and spending time with people, but I am equally happy on my own and never need constant company or entertainment. I can easily imagine spending time in a remote house surrounded by nature, caring for a home and animals and enjoying the quiet in between. For this reason, house sitting and pet sitting are opportunities I am particularly interested in.

Animals have always been an important part of my life. I used to have my own dog, and I spent the first 25 years of my life around horses. I am comfortable with animals, enjoy caring for them and understand that looking after someone’s pets is a responsibility, not just a pleasant way to spend time with animals.

Professionally, I run my own business in Germany. Being self-employed for many years has made me very independent, reliable and organized. I am used to making decisions, taking responsibility, solving problems and getting things done without someone having to tell me what to do. If you entrust me with your home, your animals or your property, I take that trust seriously. I am careful with other people’s belongings and respectful of their routines and wishes.

I also hold a valid driver’s license and genuinely enjoy driving. I am a confident driver and comfortable both in cities and in rural areas. Living some distance from the nearest town or having to drive to get groceries is therefore absolutely fine with me. In fact, I am quite drawn to peaceful and remote places.

I am happy to help with gardening, painting, animal care, organizing, house sitting and other practical tasks around a house or property. I am not a professional craftsperson, but I enjoy practical work, learn quickly and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. I work independently and carefully and am happy to adapt to the way you like things to be done.

I am not looking for a luxury holiday. What attracts me to Workaway is the opportunity to experience places in a way that ordinary tourism rarely allows: living locally, spending time in nature, contributing something useful and sometimes forming wonderful connections with people I would otherwise never have met.

At the same time, not every stay needs to be highly social for me. I am just as interested in a lively cultural exchange with hosts as I am in being trusted to look after a home and animals independently while the owners are away. I am comfortable with both – and I think this combination describes me quite well.

Because I run my own business, I occasionally need some quiet time to work online. My work is largely location-independent, so this gives me a lot of freedom to travel. A reliable Wi-Fi connection and a private space where I can work for a few hours when necessary are therefore important to me.

I would describe myself as open-minded, calm, practical, respectful and easy-going. Reliability and mutual trust are especially important to me. If I say I will take care of something, I do.

I look forward to discovering new places, meeting wonderful people and animals, and hopefully having many more experiences that I will remember long after I return home.

And perhaps one more thing worth mentioning: I’m a non-smoker, I eat pretty much everything (with very few exceptions), and I’m also very happy to adapt to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle if needed. 😊

Quais são suas habilidades?

I am a practical, reliable and independent person who is comfortable taking responsibility and getting things done without constant guidance. Running my own business has taught me to organize myself well, make decisions, solve problems and manage my time independently.

Animals are an area where I bring a lot of personal experience. I spent the first 25 years of my life around horses, including riding, stable work and daily care, and I used to have my own dog. I am confident and relaxed around animals and understand the responsibility that comes with caring for them – especially when their owners are away.

I enjoy gardening and outdoor work as well as practical tasks around a house or property, including painting, organizing, housekeeping and general maintenance. I am not a professional craftsperson, but I am hands-on, learn quickly and am happy to tackle new tasks. I work carefully and respect the way hosts want things to be done.

House and pet sitting particularly suit my personality. I am very comfortable being on my own, including in quiet or remote locations, and I am able to manage my own time and daily routines without supervision. If someone entrusts me with their home, property or animals while they are away, I understand that this requires reliability, good judgement and respect. I take that responsibility seriously.

I also have a valid driver’s license, genuinely enjoy driving and am confident in both urban and rural areas. Longer distances or having to drive to reach shops and other facilities are not a problem for me.

I am adaptable and tend to stay calm and practical when something unexpected happens. Rather than needing detailed instructions for every situation, I am comfortable thinking for myself, finding sensible solutions and asking when something genuinely needs clarification.

Above all, if I agree to take responsibility for something, you can count on me to take care of it.
