A hardworking, dependable and kind couple, who love to spend time being being outdoor, with experience with gardening/landscaping, animal care (anything from cows, horses to dogs and kittens), building, painting, crafting, cooking and more!

Hi, we are Emma and Simon :)

We are a Danish couple, both aged 25, currently living in Copenhagen, who are looking for our next big adventure in New Zealand and Australia. We have a dream of combining volunteer work, with some cultural exchange while traveling, and would much rather travel that way, with respect for local communities :)

We are both vegan and love to cook!- (Emma 12 years and Simon 4 years), We met at folk high school in DK, and when Covid happened, the Australia/NZ tour was put on a hold. We have for now, seen some places in Europe, but have always wanted to come visit Oceania, and experience places different from Scandinavia. We find traveling that way, while volunteering, so much more meaningful and impactful. :)

About us/skills :)

Emma : I finished my BA in Anthropology in 2024. I have previously been an AuPair in 2019, working for a family in Paris, so I'm familiar with living with a host, and has always found the cultural exchange, and work enjoyable! I'm independent, like to be active and go on adventures. Due to my studies, I'm also interested in social rights, human behavior, feminism, biodiversity and climate change to name a few.

Animal care experience: Before going vegan , I used to work at my aunt and uncles dairy farm, in my early teens. However with the knowledge I've gained, I'd would love to use some of those skills at a place (sanctuary) that align better with my moral compass. I also grew up with a lot of animals, that I took in when friends/family around me didn't want them anymore.I'm a big animal lover - I grew up with up to 5 golden retrievers, throughout my life, but apparently that wasn't enough, so I got my own, Hugo, 6 years ago. - in need of a dogsitter? hit us up!

I also have experience with: cows, calfs, horses, goats, donkeys, rabbits, dogs and birds to name a few, and have good understanding of their needs and caretaking. I'm used to getting up early in the morning ,and is experienced with feeding/watering, cleaning out stables, moving animals to the field, being present and helped with calving cows, bathing/brushing horses to name a few. However I’d love to be around animals and take care of them at a place, where they are treated as more than their eartag, and better than in the industry. I also know how to fix fences, and can do different renovating projects, as we have done some work at our family house as well - or if something smaller like windows needing a wash, let me know as well :). I like to paint, and be creative as well, so if you have any other fun projects you'd want, let's talk!.

Simon: I work in a theater as a stage manager, where a lot of different tasks are thrown my way, which I thrive in, as I like variety in my job! I have a lot of experience with building physical stages, doing painting jobs, besides facilitating communication across the creative and technical department. I like the responsibility and as I'm very goal- and precision oriented, you can be sure that the job will be done to perfection! I'm quite handy, so if you need something fixed/ build, or other creative projects let me know. I also have a drivers license, so if you need anything else I'm happy to help. I started my own theater company at 21, which has led to a lot of new skills and responsibility from anything from knowhow in PR and Social Media (Which I'd happily help with), to writing my own plays, acting, as well as I have done some teaching/workshops at schools and theater festivals to name a few. I like being outdoor, has played soccer a lot of my life, and as I'm very open minded. I've grown up with labradors so if you need a dogsitter, I'd be happy to help!

Gardening/physical work: We have both been doing garden work for most of our lives, so if you need help with cutting the hedge or the grass, taking care of flowers, trees, the kitchen garden, or anything else, we'd love to help!

Two summers in a row we have worked together with a very overgrown garden for Emma’s mother - including removing strong roots from the ground, removing smaller fruit trees and replanting them elsewhere, making a pond and doing some light landscaping, as well as planting plants that supports biodiversity as well! :)

Together we are a great team! We have both worked together in Simon's theater company for years (Emma as a director) so we know each others strong work ethic, as well as our will to work towards the same goals , we are genuinely happy people and we respect privacy as much as we'd love to chitchat with others as well over a cup of coffee or on a hike! :)

Quais são suas habilidades?

Both Emma and I (Simon) have a great variety of different skills.
Emma has a BA in Anthropology and is naturally interested in human behavior, biodiversity, climate change, and people’s relationship to animals. From a very young age, she used to work with animals at her uncle and aunt's dairy farm, and therefore has great experience with: cattle, calf, horses, goats, rabbits, dogs, and birds to name a few, and has a good understanding of their health!
Simon works in a Theater as a stage- and production manager (and actor) - he knows how to build and fix a lot of different projects, fx. he has helped build the scene at the theater, and is very creative when coming up with solutions to different problems. He has also worked as a waiter and been a manager in a grocery store, and knows quite a lot about customer service and service in general.

We both love to be around animals and take care of them, with respect for their body language and boundaries - namely to take care of them and support the lovely people who work so hard to make sanctuaries a safe haven for animals! It has also been a tiny dream of us to start our own sanctuary, so we would love to help in that area!
We are both REALLY happy with getting dirt on our hands and working outside, it’s almost therapeutic in a way :))
We also cook up vegan meals and would be more than happy to help with cooking/preparing food, if that is needed, and we are also really interested in sharing and learning more from you!

We are both quite active people. Simon is very interested in football (the European kind), but is also interested in other sports. Of course, he likes theater and art in general, and he loves board games and can sometimes be very competitive, especially because he has 4 siblings.
Emma is the more philosophical kind and loves to talk about whatever is happening in the world. Well of course we both love to talk about interesting topics, but if you want to go nuts in the deepest of conversations about the weirdest things in the world, then she's the one!
