Hello!

My name is Serena : ). I pondered going to university, but decided to travel the world instead. Some of my strongest desires are to learn about other ways of life, listen to the perspectives of others, and share my own. Another desire of mine is to discover who I am. What lights me up? What passions do I have that I can help humanity with? I chose to travel because it seems like a perfect way to satisfy wishes I have.

In short, this is what brings me to work-away. I see work-away as a perfect way to get very personal experiences with people of different cultures, learn new skills, and help others with the skills I have.

Something I am extremely passionate about is connecting with other cultures. I feel that learning about other ways of life makes people more concerned about the world as a whole. Another one of my primary loves is people : ). I love to hear the stories of others, and I love to share my own : ). I also have an interest in any sort of charity work, and hope to possibly work in this field in the future. Anything such as teaching, helping in a humanitarian crisis, campaigning for animal or human rights, bringing resources to the homeless… you name it, makes me come alive. Nature make me come alive as well! I love to do anything that gets me outside; hiking, camping, backpacking, trail running, learning how to survive in the wilderness, snowboarding, gardening, or anything that has a hint of adventure : ). Other loves of mine include connecting with children, and anything that has do with the abstract side of life (philosophy, theology etc.), And lastly, studying and working with animals has been a major joy in my life, and something that I would like to pursue more in the future.

As far as my practical skills go, I have worked as a waitress and absolutely loved it! I also have experience with charity work, such as working with the homeless, watching foster children, helping the elderly with housework, running booths at festivals, and helping out at a library. General housekeeping and cooking are also things that I am handy at, as well as animal care. I have cared for animals of my own such as dogs, cats, fish, and birds. Also, I have some experience caring for goats and chickens. I have basic gardening skills, and have done (and enjoy) hard physical outdoor work. Lastly, I have very basic experience with horses. This is a field that I am definitely interested in and am very eager to build my skills in. What I have done with horses includes learning the bare basics of riding, cleaning stalls, and brushing.

Currently, I am traveling in Georgia (the country in Europe) with my siblings, learning how to become a freelance writer, and absolutely loving life.

I am a very hard worker, and am comfortable doing (or learning) any form of work. I am especially interested in doing physical labor, farm work, animal care, work with children, and have experience in all of these areas.
