Hi, I am Marcel, part time Teacher for Physical Education and English and currently at the end of completing my Masters Degree. I live in cologne with my Girlfriend and spend the winter seasons in Austria, where I work with young Racing Kids from the age of 6 to 14 to help them achieve their goal of becoming a professional skier. I enjoy vibrant cities as much as I love the quiet and coziness of nature. I am looking for something meaningful to contribute to while enjoying the nature and people of the country.
I regard myself as a problem solver and as a mature and polite human being, keen to learn new things to become a better version of myself every day.
I am new to WorkAway as we all are to many things at first in our lifetime :)

As some might have made bad experiences with travelers: I live on my own for over a decade now (partly with my Girlfriend), so I know how to keep a house clean and tidy, wash clothing, doing dishes and cook :) I also own a car for over a decade (which I won’t bring to Ireland though) and regard myself as a very proficient driver.

As a child I got addicted to reading books about the Wild Wild West (Winnetou and Old Shatterhand). Therefore I always wanted to move to America when I was a Teenager and therefore was very keen to learn English quickly and why I ultimately started studying English at Cologne University. As I will be a full time teacher soon, I want to become more native alike though.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Studying Sports and English for Education in Germany with over 10 years of teaching experiences in Schools and Sports-clubs for various sports like skiing, snowboarding, tennis, football and swimming. My passion is certainly working with people, to convince/educate others to live a healthier and more active life and love to encourage friends and families to join my activities.

Working experiences extend to Co-Writing 4 Books in Cooperation with the German Sports University and Managing an established sports-club in a district of Cologne City. Tasks included Planning & Implementation of Sports Courses/Events (up to 120
participants) for Kids of all ages as well as Trainer Recruitement & Coaching and Content Creation (7 years).

During the pandemic I worked in Landscaping & construction work. Just some minor experiences gained but I believe I learn quickly and enjoy some hard physical work at times :)

Currently I am doing some booking management for an upcoming artist for over a year now + I am involved in building a Skiing Academy in Austria for the upcoming winter season.

I possess a driver license, lifeguard and first aid certificates, am a German language native and fluent in English (verbal and written on scientific level, though there is still room for improvement), and basic language skills in Spanish.

A polite and charismatic behavior is not a skill, but a given!

I am passionate about sports in general, but mostly enjoy the outdoors at the moment. That includes skateboarding, skiing and surfing of course. You can catch me with any sport that involves a Ball as well though. Started playing football at the age of 3 (wanted to become a professional but an injury at 15 put an end to that) and tennis at the age of 4 and still playing on a regular basis. Besides that I am interested in nutritional and breathing science, philosophy, politics, environmental protection and fair fashion. As I’ve worked with athletes for a while now and bring a profound scientific background with athletic performance, I’d love to help anyone interested in building a training regiment regarding an athletic or a healthier life in general. Would also love to pick up new Skills in any skilled trade!
