Hello! We are Rainy and Yikey, a couple from Taiwan.

I am Deng Yu-Ting, or you can call me Rainy. I am a graduate student in Landscape Architecture at National Taiwan University. My studies focus on landscape planning and design, and I am familiar with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Illustrator, and GIS. I also have experience as a private tutor and can help children with Mandarin Chinese, homework, and basic mathematics.

Yikey is a graduate student in Electrical Engineering. His main research area is artificial intelligence, and he is skilled in programming, computers, mathematics, and logical problem-solving. He also has private tutoring experience and is especially confident in teaching mathematics.

We are planning to travel around New Zealand from September to December on approved Working Holiday Visas. We joined Workaway because we would like to experience local life, meet people from different backgrounds, and learn practical skills. We are particularly interested in gardening, farming, animal care, home renovation, and local culture.

We can communicate in everyday English, understand clear instructions, and ask questions when necessary.

We are happy to help with:

* Gardening, planting, weeding, and outdoor work
* Cleaning, organizing, cooking, and household tasks
* Painting and basic maintenance
* Animal care with guidance
* Helping children with homework
* Teaching Mandarin Chinese or mathematics
* Photography, graphic design, mapping, and digital content
* Programming and basic computer-related tasks

Although we do not have professional experience in every type of work, we are responsible, patient, willing to learn, and comfortable with hands-on tasks. We respect house rules, privacy, schedules, and different ways of living.

As we are travelling together, we are looking for hosts who can accommodate both of us in the same room. We would also like to stay and work at the same place and generally follow the same schedule. However, we are happy to take responsibility for different tasks when needed.

In our free time, we enjoy playing music, composing songs, exploring cities, watching films, and playing volleyball or badminton. We are also interested in New Zealand’s natural environment, landscapes, and local lifestyle.

Practical information:

* Availability: September to December
* Preferred stay: Around 1–2 weeks, or longer if needed
* Working Holiday Visas: Approved
* English: Able to communicate in everyday situations
* Driver’s licence: Yikey has a driver’s licence; Rainy does not
* Dietary requirements: None
* Smoking: Both non-smokers
* Animal-care experience: No professional experience, but willing to learn

We would be happy to take part in a language exchange. We can teach conversational Mandarin Chinese, basic Chinese characters, pronunciation, and useful everyday expressions. We enjoy music, films, video games, sports, and exploring new places. We both play the piano and enjoys composing songs, playing video games, volleyball, and badminton. We also enjoy walking around cities, visiting natural areas, taking photographs, and learning about different cultures and ways of life.

We are happy to share meals, conversations, games, or simple activities with our hosts, but we also respect personal space and quiet time. We are easy-going, non-smokers, and comfortable living in a calm and tidy environment.

We would also be happy to share Taiwanese food, culture, music, games, and everyday life with our hosts.
