My name is Owen Halliday and I am 25 years old. I am from Esperance, Western Australia. I am one of three brothers and have been fascinated by the possibility of travel and volunteering from a very young age. I grew up in the small coastal town of Esperance where my parents own and manage holiday apartments across the road from the beautiful Esperance Recherché Archipelago. I love learning about the history and customs of different cultures and I am very keen to experience firsthand different cultures myself.

I have always had an unrelenting passion to travel and experience the beauty of our planet. I moved to Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, at the beginning of 2017 to study architecture at University. As an architectural student I gained a variety theoretical and practical knowledge of different cultures and learned how people from around the world live, work and design their built environment.

I have been immersed in tourism and hospitality for several years with my parents owning and managing holiday apartments in Esperance WA. We have thousands of guests, from all over the world, stay with us every year. I know how to work hard and have helped my parents with the apartments in a number of ways; landscaping, cleaning, repairs/maintenance just to name a few. I have worked in the design industry for 18 months and have developed many skills in CAD and Photoshop. I have also worked for a landscaping business for 12 months where I was trained to install reticulation and other garden systems.

However, I am ready to move outside my comfort zone and experience new places and people. I am also an artist and have been fortunate enough to display my artwork in an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. I am excited about the opportunity to travel, share my own experiences and immerse myself in new cultures. I would love to work overseas and believe I have skills that would suit many projects. I am an easy going, hard working guy with an aptitude for making long lasting friendships.
