Hello!
My name is Noemie and if you are reading these words it means perhaps we are going to meet in the future!
In April 2026 I plan to offer to my goddaughter Charlotte her first adventure abroad. She is 16 years old and through the years we lived many beautiful small adventures together. The last one was a two days bicycle trip in Brittany.
She turned 16 last June. I was 16 the first time I left my family to come to Ireland where I lived for a year — my last year of high school. It was 15 years ago and I never had the chance to come back to Ireland. This adventure I plan with Charlotte is for me a way to share with her what was such a great experience when I was her age: to discover Ireland.
However, what I want to share with her is not only a tourist experience. Through the years I discovered several places with Workaway: for me it is a way of meeting people and their culture.
That is what I would like to make her discover for her first travel abroad.
We will travel two weeks together: the time of the school holidays. For the first 3 days, we plan to sleep in my car and do some hiking. We plan to end our trip the same way. In between, for a week, we would love to join some host and share our energy and help.
In my three previous volunteering experiences, I liked working outsides and take care of plants and animals. The first one took place in Norway. I volunteered with my boyfriend Theo at Eva’s place: a house in a small island above the arctic circle. We worked in the garden, painted a roof, took care of Eva’s dog, cat and hens. I loved the wonderful setting where we lived, by the water. We shared loads of great time sharing delicious meals that we’ve had cooked together. Eva made her own bread and we helped her with it. In fall 2021 I’ve volunteered for ten days in Switzerland, via "woofing", with a producer of herbal tea. I enjoyed being in the mountains and helping compose the herbal tea bags.
Last summer, in June and July 2025, I travelled by myself in Sweden. I lived for nearly four weeks at Eka, a wonderful collective farm in South Sweden. There I helped taking care of the place, gardening, cooking for the group, organising story night. I lived there a beautiful experience and hope I will come back to Sweden visit them one day.
About Noémie
I have currently two jobs: one of these jobs is to work for a non profil organisation to help territory development through social and solidarity values. The second one is quite unusual: I organise event to make people talk together about death in public spaces: it is part of a worldwide movement called "Death Cafe". I'm also a storyteller: I would be pleased to discover some of Irish legends and share to you some of my traditional stories! I like talking by the bonfires, sharing good meals, warm places ; I like hiking, contemplate landscapes, reading, playing boardgames...
What more to say?
I’m part of militant self-managed choir, and I like singing with others, no matter if it's not always in tune :)

Charlotte's presentation
"My name is Charlotte, I’m sixteen years old and I live in countryside at the West of France (South of Nantes). The place where I live is a famous for its vineyard and the « Muscadet » wine.
I’m in Year 12 in an agricultural high school. There, I learn the life of environment and town and country planning. I particularly like animals, especially horses. I love them for their expressiveness, their understanding of us, and their different mind...
I’ve been volunteering for seven years in an non profit organisation which aim to make children discover horses. So I learned how to take care and do daily treatments to the ten ponies of this place. Moreover I´be been doing bareback horse-riding during five years and I‘ve done weekly classic horse-riding for the last two years thanks to my high school. I enjoy spending time doing manual works and DIY. I often assist my father, who is a carpenter, when he’s working at home. I can use a screw-gun, a drill and a sander. I have the sew’s basics too. In any case m, when I have somethings in my mind, I try everything to achieve It.
I think I have develop myself many of my creative and manual skills, so I can say that I am partly self-taught. I spend a lot of time outdoor, because of horse-riding first, and I also practice mountain biking in competition. I have been practicing many disciplines : mountain biking like cross country (XC), downhill (DH) and trial bike. I enjoy be minh outdoor and to observe the different seasons, different landscapes.
For the past few years, I tried photography of animals, nature and monuments. I love listening to music: I listen to many different styles and I’m curious of discovering others. I’m learning English and Spanish but I’m not yet really comfortable to talk, but I have the basics and I handle this.
This traveling will be my first travel abroad.
Since I’m 5 years old, I do a lots of adventures with Noemie, all of them very different from each other: we visit cities, make cultural, sports and even culinary discoveries. These adventures allowed me to expand my personal culture and shape my desires.
For me, this travel in Ireland makes me curious to live an experience immersed in a culture that I don’t really know and in a language that I never used in concrete situations. I’m looking forward to discover new landscapes and can put feelings and memories on this country. I’m also a gourmet so I want to experiment the food in a country other than France."

Quais são suas habilidades?
I like working outdoor, I don’t have a lot of special technical skills but various basic knowledge and a thirst for learning new skills. I’m able to do some painting, I enjoy cooking, making bread. I've done basketwork several time in my life and I love wicker work (even if I'm still a beginner!).
Having lived my childhood in countryside, I’m used to general house maintenance, home improvement and gardening. I grew up with donkeys, sheep and hens. Where I live now, I volunteer in a non-profit organization that own eight cows: we take care of them together. I especially like cats: if it happens that you live with one cat (or more!) I would be pleased of their company.
I’m rather fluent in English, and try to learn some words in Swedish. I love telling stories and tales.
