Hi there!
My name is Nina, I’m 19 years old and I come from a small village in Northern Italy, right on the border with Slovenia. I belong to the Slovenian minority living on the Karst plateau (Kras) near Trieste — a place I love deeply. Because of this, my first language is Slovenian, but I also speak Italian fluently and feel strongly connected to both cultures.

I’ve just graduated from a scientific high school and decided to take a gap year before starting university. I felt the need to slow down, gain independence, and discover myself better through real-life experiences and work. I’m curious, motivated, and eager to learn by doing.

I’m a very creative and artistic person. I enjoy painting, DIY and handmade crafts, listening to music, and reading. Cinema is my biggest passion — I love movies not just as entertainment but as a way to understand people and stories different from mine.

Food is another big passion of mine. I’ve loved cooking for myself and others since I was a child. I’m vegetarian and really enjoy discovering new flavours as well as sharing my own. I strongly believe food is one of the best ways to connect with people.

I love animals and enjoy gardening a lot, but I am generally interested in all kinds of work, being helpful and learning new skills. Physical work is not a problem and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty :-). I have a keen interest in nature and wildlife and feel happiest when I am outdoors. I’ve practiced athletics for most of my life and now I go to the gym, love running, walking every day, and going on excursions with friends.

I’m especially interested in farms, eco-projects, creative spaces and families, particularly those involving animals. I value mutual respect, honesty, and a friendly, collaborative atmosphere. I believe i can bring positive energy, kindness, and care. What motivates me most is human connection, cultural exchange, and the idea that we can all learn something valuable from each other. There is so much beauty and magic in human beings and I want to share and learn more about it.

I have experience teaching languages to children aged 4–6. I can help with Slovenian, Italian, and English, and while I don’t have experience teaching adults yet, I’m open and willing to try if given the opportunity. I would also love to learn Spanish, which is one of my goals for this year.

Quais são suas habilidades?

So far, I have worked as a waitress in different traditional osmicas — typical Karst establishments where local wines and homemade products are prepared and enjoyed. My tasks included preparing and serving plates, cleaning tables, and keeping the kitchen and work areas tidy. Since November, I’ve been working in a bar in the city, where I take care of almost all daily tasks: opening the bar, preparing drinks, serving customers, cleaning, and occasionally helping in the kitchen. Since high school, I have also been working as a tutor for two young boys from an Italian family who attend Slovenian schools. I help them with homework, read books with them, play games, draw, go for walks, and support them in their daily learning and creativity. In addition, I work as a steward at basketball games in my town’s arena. This role includes ticket control at the entrance as well as ensuring that safety rules are respected and that everything runs smoothly during events.

As I already mentioned, I’m a big movie lover and really enjoy talking about films, sharing my knowledge, and learning from others. I’m also into photography and love taking pictures with old analog cameras. I enjoy reading and learning about subjects such as history, philosophy, politics... I’m not exactly a genius when it comes to board or card games :,-) willing to try tho!
