Hello! We are Nele and Milan (both 24), a couple from Belgium together for over five years and counting. We are two adventurous spirits who find joy and fulfillment in nature. Our shared love for the outdoors has led us on multiple-day hikes through the mountains with just a backpack and a tent. We both developed a passion for travel through our families from a young age, and it's been a significant part of our lives ever since.

In our free time, we indulge in outdoor activities such as hiking, bouldering (climbing), running, kayaking and surfing. We also both have a dog with whom we love to spend time. These activities not only keep us active but also allow us to connect with nature and each other.

Last year, after finishing our studies, we spent two months traveling through Norway in a campervan. In the far north of the country, we had an amazing Workaway experience: we repaired fences, harvested vegetables before the ground would freeze, and built a drinking trough for the horses. We were warmly welcomed by the host family and shared many cozy moments together, all while enjoying the Northern Lights in full glory at night. This experience was truly amazing and sparked a strong desire for more meaningful encounters like this and for building a sustainable outdoor life together.

After returning from Norway, we started working and saving up for our next adventure. In October, we’ll travel to New Zealand, where we hope to find a meaningful Workaway experience on the North Island. We’re eager to learn more about sustainability, farming, gardening, conservation,... After our Workaway stay, we plan to hike the Te Araroa Trail on the South Island.

We are excited about the possibilities ahead and look forward to contributing positively to the communities we visit. We hope to connect with hosts to whom we can offer our time and commitment to help bring their projects to life.

Quais são suas habilidades?

We both hold bachelor's degrees in Psychology. Nele continued her studies with a master's degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, while Milan specialized in Sociology. Both of us focused our master's theses on environmental challenges and explored how society can effectively address them.

Our work experience is diverse and community-oriented. We have both volunteered extensively in our local youth movement, organizing fun and adventurous activities for young people aged 6-18, as well as annual camps in nature. Nele has worked regularly in restaurants as a student, and has also worked in a school for children with learning disabilities. Milan spent the past months working in a special working place for people with disabilities whom he provided with psycho-social guidance. Our dream is a career path that is more related to the environment, but unfortunately opportunities in Belgium are limited so that is why we are looking for experience through workaway.

Milan has always been passionate about outdoor work. From a young age, he helped his parents in the garden and began breeding Silkies chickens at the age of 10, learning practical skills such as building chicken coops and fences. He also enjoys woodworking, creating birdhouses and vegetable garden boxes. Now, we both like it to share and expand these skills.

Last year, in the far north of Norway, we had an amazing Workaway experience during which we learned a lot. We repaired fences, built a gate for the pastures, harvested vegetables before the ground would freeze, cut wood for the campfire, repaired the chicken coop, built a drinking trough for the horses and helped to maintain our host's land.

Additionally, we enjoy cooking and preparing nice meals (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) and desserts. We are social and open-minded people and always eager to learn more and embrace new challenges.

Milan has enjoyed playing football for 15 years, and Nele likes horse riding (although she hasn't done it in a while) and recently started practicing yoga. We share a passion for animals, both domestic and wild. We also both have a passion for photography and love capturing beautiful scenes, recently experimenting with our drone to get interesting shots.
