Hi there! I’m Mathis, a curious and adventurous spirit currently on a gap year after completing my bachelor’s degree in Biology. I’ve just returned from an incredible six-month internship in Chile, where I worked on marine biology research.

Now, I’m looking for a peaceful, nature-oriented adventure from mid-February to mid/end of March, and I’m excited to learn new skills along the way. During my internship in Chile, I designed and built a water and air circulation system for my seagrass experiment. I loved this technical challenge and I'm looking further improve my practical skills. I’m a fast learner and enjoy coming up with creative solutions to any challenges that come my way. I’d love to dive into hands-on experiences like gardening, building, repairing, and cooking.
Traveling solo has given me a profound sense of freedom and new perspectives. I love exploring nature, sharing good stories, and learning about life philosophies from people I meet. I’m fairly sporty too—I run for my university’s track and field team, training 5–6 times a week. Movement is a big part of my life, whether it’s running, hiking, or simply soaking in the beauty of the outdoors.

I enjoy a simple, contemplative lifestyle and can happily spend an afternoon savoring a good sandwich and coffee while admiring the landscape. In Hawaii, I’m excited to immerse myself in the stunning scenery, marine life, and vibrant culture. I’d love to try surfing, snorkeling, hiking, and watching those legendary Hawaiian sunsets.

I’m looking forward to meeting new people, learning new skills, and sharing great experiences in Hawaii!

I'm a native French speaker from Québec. I'm pretty fluent in Spanish. I'm fluent in English and I looking to improve my vocabulary and skills in English.

I’m self-driven and love bringing ideas to life. I’ve earned awards and scholarships for my involvement in academic, social, and athletic life. I’ve led projects like starting a social committee for my sports team, organizing career-focused initiatives for students, and creating engaging integration events.

I’m resourceful and thrive on challenges and new learning opportunities. During a research internship in Chile, I designed and executed an experiment from scratch, evaluating the effects of temperature on seagrass growth.
