hi, my name is Mark from Austria. I love to travel and the road is something magical to me. This is where I meet new people, see beautiful landscapes and learn the most about life and the world.
For my life I have been a man of the mountains and seeked challenges in the snow and rock. In 2017, I spent several months rebuilding and sailing a boat in the Med and started using Workaway.info as a new way to travel and learn. So far, I participated in projects in Jordan, Spain, Cyprus, Albania, Ireland, Latvia and Finland - mostly working on websites and marketing, carpenting and garden work.
I settled for some years now in West Austria. My professional backround is academic (teaching at universities information science and marketing mostly) I work in the field of Marketing.

Quais são suas habilidades?
Computers: everything from setting up, designing and maintaining web pages (different CMSs like Wordpress); writing content (very good in english, best in german language);
Gardening, construction, carpentry, mechanics: basic skills but I like it very much > I learn fast (as I needed during rebuilding of my sailboat)
Teaching: I can teach a wide area of subjects (business administration, german language, information science, but also sport activities like rock climbing or skiing)
Travel business: organizing trips and contact with clients; all type of management tasks

When I am in the mountains, my preferred activities are ski touring, rock climbing and hiking. I like to read and discuss topics, and being outdoors is one of my pleasures. For me, to learn means to live.

Mark was excellent. He was enjoyable company with so many interesting and engaging experiences and did above and beyond in the garden. He took instruction really well and was also able to work on his own initiative. 10/10 would love to have him back anytime.

I stayed about three weeks with Ulla, Toby and their three kids at their fantastic place right at the shore of the Baltic Sea. I felt immediately welcomed and home. I got my own room and had always great and plenty food - most of the time cooked by Inga :D

What can I say about Mark.....he is fantastic! He stayed with me for a month and was such a great volunteer. He helped with the farming, boat building, seaweed harvesting, gardening and my B&B. Mark stayed with us for just over 3 weeks and was a tremendous help with getting a lot of DIY stuff done, especially carpentry jobs. He helped with the construction of the big greenhouse and got it as far as it being almost ready to put the plastic and shade netting on.
