Hello dear hosts!
My name is Marius Evang and I am currently 19 years of age and in the middle of my gap year. I've studied natural science and choral music at Stockholm's musical gymnasium and even though I greatly enjoyed my time there I feel the desire explore both myself and this world before I commence my higher education. I traded excellent grades and performance for stress and anguish, emotions which I now wish to subdue with the joys of nature. I have always adored those genuine opportunities to get out of the city and its concrete forests, but I will admit to being accustomed to the comforts of modern life. That being said, I am eager to challenge myself and yearn to find something more meaningful than that which has been hitherto. Beyond just enjoying the scenery and fullfilment of contribution, I hope that I might grow as a person through this exchange and return more alive than I left.
As for interests I adore singing and music in general, especially classical choral music or bossa nova. Besides this I also play a bit of piano, even though that talent certainly could benefit from some more practise :) Another one of my passions is that of language. I find the acquisition of a foreign tongue to be superbly fascinating and engaging, which is why I've spent much effort and time mastering French. As one might deduce, I would greatly appreciate any possibility of now developing my Japanese or perhaps aid in the linguistical prospects of others. Furthermore, I am very fond of reading and, while seldom, writing in addition. A certain object of interest, which I can't deny the slightly nerdy quality of, is my love of board games. Had I been more affluent I can assure you that my library of games would stretch far and wide, but alas I must content myself with only the best of games.
I would consider myself a diligent person, bordering on perhaps slightly too perfectionistic. I am by no means lazy, but I do relish serenity. While I am not afraid to get my hands dirty I most definitely value the aspect of cleanliness and the possibility of maintaining ones hygiene. Despite the fact that I may not be the most physically astute, I avidly enjoy going on hikes and playing sports for fun. I don't have much experience of rural life but I learn quickly and absolutely look forward to doing so. Besides teaching me the aspects of my daily tasks I'd love any chance to learn the art of cooking, as I find the activity quite enriching, even though I will admit to being a slow chef. I should perhaps mention that I neither smoke nor drink and whilst I prefer fish and vegetables I have no issue consuming meat.
It is always a peculiar thing to describe ones own personality but I shall accord it my best attempt. I would ascribe myself the traits of sociability and intelligence, as core parts of my character. I can't help reflect and question that which confronts me, even though the answers found upon contemplation don't always harbour joy. I find the art of debate essential to any functioning interaction as the sharing of opinions and ideas is key for growth within ones mind. That being said, I of course respect the differences in convictions. What I find riveting is exploring this variety.
When it comes to Japan and the reasoning behind the choice of voyage I posit it as a country containing the essential things which I find valuable. Nature whose beauty is beyond imagination, a language soothing yet complex, food unparalleled by other cuisines, a rich and sublime culture which is inevitably tied to the spirit of its people. When I last visited Japan I simply felt at ease and I miss that emotion.
So long as I get a good nights sleep, I can assure you of my motivated and content participation in all things social and work related. I'd love to toil together towards collective goals, but I have no issue labouring independently, given the necessary guidance of course. I would love to learn the ways and culture of your family and surroundings and in equal regard would be happy to share my own. I hope you might accord me the generosity of giving me a chance of aiding in your endeavours and that we may share both labour and spirit.

Quais são suas habilidades?
As is to be expected, many of my skills correlate to that in which I am interested. Nevertheless I shall present any qualities worthy of mention.
I have both sung and played the piano since I was roughly six years old, taking lessons in both. I speak Swedish, English and French fluently, a statement confirmed by natives in the two latter languages (which is high praise coming from French people haha). I have studied Japanese in Tokyo previously and understand a fair amount whilst I my speech has gotten rusty. Additionally I have studied some on my own, both online and with the help of educational material. As for formal education I graduated with an A from Chinese 1 at Stockholm's university and I am currently finishing up my programming course at the same institution. I am familiar with technology so I'll gladly try and help if the necessity arises. When it comes to creativity I love everything from problem solving to drawing, Any mental task is in large entertainment :)
I've worked a couple of jobs, mostly in hospitality. These include being a piano teacher, ice cream vendor, tutor, babysitter, wardrobe assistant, waiter, opera singer, actor, model and so on. I know not the relevance of these positions but they were much fun do to. I don't know whether I should mention this but as strange as it is I happened to sell massage to my fellow classmates as they considered me so good at it but I digress haha.
I usually help around at home by cooking, cleaning or walking our dogs in the local nature reserve. Through this I have some experiences taking care of animals, even though I would LOVE to herd some sheep instead :) On the subject of cooking a made a 5 course dinner for Christmas Eve practically all by myself, which sure took time but was undeniably delicious. If you're curious about the menu it was croustades, salmon tartars, scallops, halibut with baked potatoes and mash and tartlets for dessert. When we're up in our hut in Norway I sometimes cut firewood for our chimney and shovel snow. As a child I was actually a little scout, running around in the forest and earning badges, but those days are a long time ago.
