Hello everyone,

My name is Laetitia and I just turned 41. After spending the last year working mostly online and independently, I am now looking for a new experience starting (more or less) in June, ideally in a hostel, hotel, surf lodge or guesthouse for the summer season — and possibly longer, as I will begin online university courses in September.

I miss human connection, teamwork and outdoor life. I would love to meet new people, reconnect with nature, improve my surfing skills and be part of a friendly and positive environment.

I recently lived in the Dominican Republic where I worked as a French teacher at the Alliance Française in Santo Domingo. During the summer, I volunteered in a kitesurfing school in the north of the island. My tasks included welcoming guests, preparing rooms, helping at the bar and restaurant, handling check-ins/check-outs and assisting with the daily organization of the place. I also helped with painting and small maintenance projects.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked for several years in resorts and hostels, so I am comfortable with hospitality work, customer service and communication. I genuinely enjoy creating a warm atmosphere for guests and working as part of a team.

I also spent almost a year working on a cattle station in Australia. I love animals, gardening, cooking and outdoor work in general.
I speak French (native), English and Spanish fluently, and I also used to speak Portuguese ("used to" because honestly I almost forgot it. Now I am learning Italian...).

I would describe myself as open-minded, reliable, easy-going and hardworking. I adapt easily to new environments and I always try to bring kindness wherever I go.

I have 5 years of experience in tourism if you need help. I can do check-in/check-out, take care of your social media, prepare breakfast and of course welcome and help the customers.

The school has ponies, a rabbit, a dog and a farm … read more nearby, I really liked to take care of the animals!! During my free time I never get bored as there was plenty to do!! First the kids will always ask you to come somewhere doing something but you can also ice-skate, ski, snowboard ... We also made bonefires and parties!
The landscape is really beautiful! I have been lucky to see it covered with snow and changing in 2 weeks for a green and flourished one. The sunset is the most beautiful I have ever seen and the starry sky was just stunning!! I have also seen deers and huge foxes, mooses are more shy... The lodging was perfect, I had a private room in the girls' dorm.
This is an atypical school, I had between 2 and 4 kids in my class which made the lessons easier as you have plenty of time to work individually with them. They let me plan my lessons as I wished and as the kids are very artistic the lessons became quickly very creative. I have been free to propose whatever ideas/projects which has always been accepted with great enthusiasm!
I taught around 12 hours a week and I helped every monday morning in the kitchen where I could learn a bit of Latvian thanks to Andra, it was always a great time to cook with her. I also helped a little bit in the daily chores as cleaning the floor or washing the dishes (always with a team of kids which makes the tasks 100 times more fun!)
The teacher team is also amazing and I am so grateful that we befriended. Zane and Jakobs are like family for me now. Zane helped me a lot with my classes, she's such a creative person full of ideas and as I told her "we all need a Zane in our life". She is the kind heart of the school. Getting to know her was such a privilege !! Jakobs has become a very close friend, he's a smart person. We had lots of fun and he took me in many places that I will never forget. He introduced me to his friends and his family. I will never forget these life-sharing moments. Since the first days he has also been very concerned about how confortable I felt in the school which allowed me to find my place. I would never thank them enough for everything they have done to me. Leaving the school has been hard ...
