Hello! I go by Karla. I have been traveling Latin America for over a year now volunteering in Mexico and Colombia. My past workaways have varied between hostel work, permaculture/farm work and language teaching. It has so far been the greatest experience of my life. I've enjoyed every workaway, making lifelong connections along the way and exploring new cities. Aside from travel, my other passions include running, hiking, learning the guitar and studying languages!

Quais são suas habilidades?

I speak English, Polish and French fluently and intermediate Spanish. I'm fascinated by all languages and enjoy picking up on the local languages wherever I'm travelling.

I completed a CELTA course in 2018 to teach English as a second language but have not had the opportunity to make use of the skills I gained from the program just yet - I'm hoping to strengthen my teaching skills through Workaway!

I'm very adaptable and open to new experiences - I traveled solo in Europe in my early twenties and backpacked India for 3.5 months (to this day, the best travel experience I've ever had!)

I have extensive experience in hospitality, customer service and management.

My past volunteer experiences include English conversation classes with Tibetan monks in India for a few weeks and volunteering a couple hours a week for 6 months as front desk support for a non profit yoga studio in Vancouver, Canada. I worked reception and organized events for 3 months in a hostel in Guadalajara, Mexico and spent 1 wonderful month with a family outside of San Cristóbal de las Casas, helping them with gardening and carpentry. My last workaway in Mexico was spent helping out at a language school in Tehuacán. I am currently living with a family outside of Bogotá, Colombia, assisting them with their online English teaching program.

I'm very active and enjoy trail running and hiking! In my spare time I enjoy practicing yoga, reading and learning to play the guitar.
