Hey guys :) I have ten weeks in Central America and want to surf as much as possible! So my plan is to slowly head north on the pacific coast, potentialy stay longer at perfect waves :)

I'm an open-minded, outgoing and very positive Person. My Passions are acting, surfing, playing basketball. In general I love doing sports. But my biggest passion ever is food! I love to grow veggies, herbs and fruit, prepare and finally enjoy them! I love getting to know new recipies and different cuisines as much as possible!
I am absulutely convinced of the vegan idea, but because of wanting to try all the regional food in new countrys and cultures and really dive into the different cuisines I also make exceptions from time to time and I really enjoy doing so!
I would love to learn and know about your hobbys and more important: Try them :) So whatever it is, I would love to try out and make new experiences!
As beeing part of the workawayer community, I think I don't have to say how important tolerance towards any religion, gender, sex, race and so on is to me. Still I think there's only wrong behaviour, no absulte wrong or bad person out there.

Quais são suas habilidades?
After working in a Backpackers for 5 weeks in Livingston, Guatemala and working in a small hotel on the riverside in the jungle near Livingston I got used to the daily needs in hostel life, and learned to love it. That's why I would definitely love to do this again on my next travels if it gives me the opportunity to get to know a different part of the world and expand my experience there. So General Mantenaince, Serving Food, Chekking in and out Guests and simply just make them having a good time is no problem :)
I think I have a green thumb, but still there's a lot to learn about gardening. My father is a gardener, too and showed me the basics but I think I nearly know nothing about tropic plants, so I would love to learn gardening in this climate as well. But trust me, I'm really looking forward do get my hands dirty and do some physical hard work outside!!!!
Really I love cooking for life and as vegan/vegetarian I really need to cook different cuisines from all over the world to keep my creativity going and to have a broad variety to eat :) I'm always eager to cook for many people at the same time and to see their happy faces when dinner is served :D
Apart from that I'm happy to do any kind of hard physical work for around 4-5 hours a day.

Last but not least I am really concerned about the problems the world and all of humanity has to face in these times. Climate change, deforestation, depleting recourses, hunger, wars and a growing trend towards right and autocratic politics all over the world. But I strongly believe in the power of kidness a smile and permaculture ( ;) ) to be able to change the world!

After reading the description and all the other feedbacks by workawayers, I couldn't wait to get to this beautiful farm near Hadera.
And now that I left and went over the feedbacks once again, I couldn't be more disappointed to not have had the same experience and opportunity to learn as others apparently have had.
I really don't feel comfortable… read more to put this into detail, but I have to.
My job mainly consisted of weeding the whole farm of several invasive species, which I did 4 out of 6 days mostly alone, without anyone mentioning the huge effort I have put in, nor appreciating the progress in diminshing those plants. Regarding this issue, I didn't feel seen or appreciated with all the energy I put in.
The other 2 days we mainly trimmed tomatoes and cut back several other invasive species, which was quite fun actually, because we worked together, listened to music and had good conversations. But still I didn't feel like I learned anything new in this work.
One of the big reasons to come to this farm, was to learn about permaculture and about mushroom-farming especially, which they do quite successfully. Having expected I would at least work with mushrooms one whole day and therefore really learn how to apply that in future, I was offered to watch another longterm volunteer for some time after I already worked 7 hours that day and already prepared to have some rest and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. (No doubt, Amid really took an effort to show me everything while he was working on the mushrooms, but it is still something different to actually do the task yourself)
The next thing I was really looking forward to, was trying and mainly eating all the different varieties of vegetables, fruits, herbs and mushrooms the farm produced, as other workawayers before me did, as you can tell by their feedbacks.
Yes I had the chance to try different things once and they all were delicious (one single tomato, single tomatillo and so on), but this didn't include the mushrooms (even though they were abundant) and to really make meals we mostly choose from conventional products from the supermarket.
Last thing which really bothered me, is, that I actually spoke with Yael to adress my initial disappointment and asked her to try teaching me about permaculture-techniques already applied on her farm (maybe giving me a tour after work around the place), so that I receive knowledge for the hard work I am willing to put in, in exchange. This sadly never happened.
And in general I really must conclude that working 6 hours a day, 6 days a week is not worth the low quality food and the rather unappealing volunteer room (which I had to clean from rats with the other volunteers on my second day) considering that I didn't feel I really learned anything new about permaculture!

Of course there are positive things to be said as well!
The location and the place itself are really beautiful and I really deeply respect and admire the reasons Yael started this farm. The progress she made in only 4 years on this farm is huge and really impressive and something that motivated me a lot to start my own permaculture project.
What I really loved as well is how sustainable and ecological the whole farm operates already especially in saving water.
And of course all the animals living on the farm a very very special and beautiful and I already miss the guardian of the kitchen, the most beautiful cat I ever had the honour to get to know.
All the people I had the pleasure to meet on the farm (other volunteers and visitors) made my time after work still very enjoyable, despite the more and more growing disappointment regarding my work.
And at last I am really thankful that Yael decided to share some passionately harvested seeds of her own varieties of plants, which made me feel I finally got something in return for the 36 hours of hard work I put in the farm.
Concluding I must say that this farm potentially offers a beautiful experience and a lot of opportunity to learn, which I sadly didn't really have the luck to enjoy.
