We are Josefina & Jenaro, from Chile, but currently visiting Europe for Jenaro's master's programme, reuniting with some friends and family, and hoping to meet new places and people through Workaway.

Descrição

We are Josefina & Jenaro, from Chile, but currently visitin Europe for Jenaro's fieldwork thesis of an Erasmus Mundus Master's programme in climate change, territorial development and sustainability, offered by a consortium of 5 universities, led by the University of Padova. We are planning to stay in Europe until the end of Jenaro's programme, to be able to attend his graduation in September.

We are also taking the opportunity to visit family and friends, since Jenaro has a sister and two nephews living in France, and Josefina has a sister based in Austria and a brother in Germany, along with some friends spread around Europe.

Josefina did another Erasmus Mundus Master programme in education policies in other European countries many years ago, and currently works remotely as a consultant. However, her working time is very flexible so she can easily adjust to combine Workaway activities in her daily routine. She has a great set of digital and organizational skills, and a lot of willingness to help others.

Jenaro is planning to visit many goat farms around Europe for his fieldwork thesis, where we hope to find some Workaway experiences to make the most of our time here. He also has a lot of flexibility in his schedule, and he is full of motivation, with tons of energy and different sets of skills because of his varied work experiences and interests.

Josefina has an Italian passport and Jenaro already applied to get a Spanish one, but hasn't got it yet. For this reason, we need to stay outside the Schengen Area for some weeks during the summer time, so we are looking for Workaway experiences in the UK and Ireland. We consider it a great opportunity to discover new places and to keep improving our English skills!

We have had the privilege to travel together to many places in Latinoamérica, Europe and Asia. In the latter, we had the chance to try 3 different workaway experiences in Sri Lanka and we would like to try again, this time in Europe. We want to make the most of this trip, we have flexibility in our times and destinations, and we are open to any opportunity that may arise. We are super looking forward to discovering new places, countries, projects, and inspiring people :)

We love learning new languages and sharing our knowledge of the ones we already speak. We are both currently trying to improve our level of Italian, and we both already have a very good level of English, but it's always useful to learn more vocabulary and discover new accents and slang!

Quais são suas habilidades?

Josefina has an extense experience working in education policies, at home and abroad, at schools, universities, NGOs, international organisations and different educational projects. She has many digital and organizational skills - particularly she loves Excel and tries to share her knowledge on this as much as possible since she thinks it is a great tool for everything and everyone!

Jenaro has varied experiences working in gardening and landscaping, taking care of animals (dogs, cats, pigs, goats, ducks and chickens!), construction and maintenance work, hospitality and tourism, cultural management projects, logistical and planning abilities, and great cooking skills!

We both have experience with kids through babysitting our nephews and nieces, teaching in different projects and scout groups.

Our stay with this wonderful family was truly exceptional, and we couldn't have asked for a better Workaway experience.

From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome. Their warmth and generosity were on another level, and they were always attentive, kind, and available whenever we needed anything. A couple of times each week they invited … read more us to join them for dinner, and we always enjoyed the delicious meals they prepared for us. They are truly incredible cooks, and we really appreciated the care and effort they put into sharing their food with us. These evenings were also a wonderful opportunity for conversations around the table. They are fantastic listeners, great storytellers, and genuinely interesting, cultured people. We learned so much from them, not only about their own experiences, but also about Irish culture, history, and life in Ireland.

The accommodation was excellent, offering plenty of privacy and very comfortable spaces. We also had lots of flexibility with the work schedule, which allowed us to spend our afternoons and weekends working on our own laptop projects. That balance made the experience even more enjoyable. We also really appreciated that, whenever they had commitments or plans in nearby towns, they kindly offered to take us with them, giving us the opportunity to explore more of the area and discover places we may not have been able to visit otherwise.

The property itself is simply stunning. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and landscapes. The garden is absolutely fabulous, and it was a pleasure to help maintain it. Our tasks included weeding, collecting grass piles, clearing stone steps, trimming hedges and ivy, and other general gardening jobs. Everything was well organised, and all the necessary tools and equipment were provided.

We also enjoyed having Fia and the cats around during our stay. They each had their own personalities and were lovely company to have around the property.

Dear David, Geraldine and Patrick, thank you for welcoming us into your home and sharing such a special part of Ireland with us. It was an unforgettable experience, and we truly hope to see you again one day. We would love to come back and visit, and we also hope you can visit us in Chile someday so we can give back the same warmth and hospitality that you so generously offered us. From the first communication we had an excellent experience with Jo and Jenaro... they were with us for about 3 weeks and they were fantastic! They were helpful, neat, hard working and all the jobs we asked them to do were done beautifully.

We were so lucky to have met Josefina and Jenaro. They are both interesting and highly intelligent people who were an absolute pleasure to have stay with us. We really enjoyed their company.
