Hi, I’m Jonas, I’m 20 years old and from Germany. I’ve been in New Zealand since April, and after spending the last few months living and working on a lifestyle/horse ranch, I can honestly say I’ve fallen in love with the rural lifestyle.

During my time on the ranch, I’ve picked up loads of new skills and experiences that I can take with me wherever I go. I’ve helped with animals, birthed puppies, looked after the farm on my own for three weeks, supervised other workers, and taken care of clients and their needs. Even though I’m definitely more of a cat person, I’ve somehow found myself getting pretty involved with all sorts of animals!

One thing I’ve learned about myself is that I can take a joke very well. Let’s face it, I’m not a master at everything, especially cooking. Don’t even get me started on cooking. But I am always willing to give things a go, learn from my mistakes, and have a laugh along the way. I also lived independently in Germany for half a year, so I’m comfortable looking after myself and taking responsibility.

I’m really excited to experience different ways of living and adapt to other people’s lifestyles. I’m easygoing, curious and always happy to learn something new. I might take a few days to properly warm up, but once I do, I’m a very social and relaxed person who enjoys getting to know new people and becoming part of a community.

I don’t have a car, so I’m more than happy to spend a lot of my time around the house and help wherever I’m needed. In my free time, I enjoy going on hikes, heading down to the local pub for a drink or two, and finding random objects to use to practice my golf swing.

Before coming to New Zealand, I spent around two years babysitting on and off in Germany and also worked hosting events. I’m pretty confident speaking English as I grew up in a bilingual household, so communicating with people isn’t a problem for me.

I’m excited to keep exploring New Zealand, go on even more hikes, meet new people, learn new skills, and make more experiences that I’ll never forget. I’m looking forward to becoming part of a new household and helping out wherever I can!
