Hi, I'm Joerdis! I'm from Germany and have always been curious about the world and the people in it. I enjoy discovering new places and cultures and learning through everyday experiences. I'm happy to help wherever I'm needed and enjoy being part of a team. So far I've gained experience working at a café, as a swim coach and as a temporary helper on a small farm with a falconry. I have strong respect for nature and feel most at home when I can experience it up close or contribute to protecting it. At the same time I value kindness, openness and mutual respect, and I always do my best to be friendly reliable, and easy to get along with.

Quais são suas habilidades?
I'm a very active person and comfortable with practical, hands-on work. working in a Café has taught me to work in an organized and structured way, while my role as a swimming coach helped me develop a strong a strong sense of responsibility and attentiveness. Helping out on a farm gave me insight into daily animal care, including stables, preparing food and water. I' am reliable curious and genuinely enjoy learning new skills while doing tings properly and safely.

I am a very creative person and bring the ideas in my head to life through different media, whether with a pen or brush on paper or through other materials like wood or clay. I have also discovered photography for myself and like to capture the natural world in all its facets, as well as the small, quiet moments of life. Otherwise, I like to try out new things, whether it's new recipes, sports, languages, or musical instruments.

Jordis was with us for 5 weeks during an absolutely crazy part of the year. We dealt with huge temperature fluctuations that left us with a river of runoff going through our farm one day and a snowstorm the next day. I had an amazing time staying at Jackies for the month of April.
She's is a super nice person, warm, chatty, generous and really goes out of her way to make sure you have the best possible experience.

On of my favourite memories is seeing the northern lights dancing across an open field, which jackie took us to in the middle of the night.… read more Although you can see them from the yard, because she knows the best spots, she still took us on a quick drive despite the late hour and her tiredness. She also took us along on all other errands. Be it grocery shopping, yard sales, and even more unusual excursions like animal auctions, and of course the highlight: Thursday night bingo.

The farm itself is a bustling place with all sorts of poultry, about which you can learn quite a bit. From daily feeding to egg collection, the daily tasks are really manageable and done in a bit. It can be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll quickly get the hang of it and learn loads about all the different breeds.

One thing i really enjeyed is that the work on the farm really tickels you out of your comfort zone in the best way possible. Every day there will be a new tasks and interesting situations that require either a good long thought, a more creative solution, or a very practical approach. You'll often have to just roll up your sleeves and get into it, but Jackie would never ask you to do something too difficult, something you are not comfotaable with, or that she wouldn't do herself. And honestly, those more unconventional quests, like catching turkeys or moving birds across the yards, are some of the funniest memories of my time at Jackie's.

Besides all the farm related madness ( in a nice way :) I really had an amazing time as well. We had good laughs playing cards against humanity, went on long walks with the dogs and enjoyed hotdogs over a campfire. Every task completed was appreciated, and that's also how you felt. And to top it all off, even on the most stressful days, she always found time to cook really good food.

I cant thank Jackie enough for the amazing time and all the effort she makes to make sure you have a good time. She really has my deepest respect for managing her farm, taking such good care of her Workawayers and still being the patient, lively and friendly person she is

A very special thanks to you for taking me on that odyssey that made my future trip through Canada possible. Without your help, I truly wouldn't be where I am now! ;)
