Hey there!

I'm an adventurous, active and joyful biology student from Germany and love to meet people from all over the world and help them with all kinds of different projects!
So far I was lucky enough to have spend 3 beautiful stays in Sweden, Belgium and Norway and have worked at different shelters and farm in Germany. However, I would love to discover even more places!

Generally I'm a really happy and relaxed person and enjoy getting engaged in the work that I get. Doing practical work or getting my hands dirty is no problem for me at all and I really enjoy learning new skills. My other hosts described me as a fast learner and I love learning new skills, methods and practices in general. I also have a lot of fun while working with other people and even if I'm stressed, I usually stay calm and laugh it off with my terrible.. I mean great humor ^^

My happiest moments during workaway's have always been when I was able to truly connect with the people I'm staying with and potentially other workawayers! I have many interests and like to talk about all kinds of things, especially sustainability, permaculture, science, different kinds of cultures and dreams in general. I also learn to play the guitar right now to be able to fill nice evenings and bonfires with a bit of music.

Cooking and baking is something I love as well and I can cook you some delicious traditional foods from the south of Germany, as well as some awesome Norwegian dishes I picked up during my travels.
In my free time I love swimming, playing games, climbing/ hiking in the mountains, spending time with animals or reading. I'm also learning how to para-glide right now, which is awesome so far :D

For some months I've lived at an organic farm near Leipzig, Germany and I absolutely love learning about sustainable agriculture and life in general a lot. Now I'm just about to finish my bachelor thesis and am building my dream van, so that I will be able to travel and join many amazing projects from April 2025 onwards.

Quais são suas habilidades?
-Gardening Skills: On the ecological farm I learned about planting, weeding, harvesting and seed multiplication from all kinds of different plants. I also got some knowledge about retaining a healthy soil, but not as much as I would like to unfortunately. Also, I have some gardening skills from growing some fruits and vegetables in my garden and helping on a farm in Belgium.

- Construction Skills: Right now I'm helping a friend to build a sustainable tiny house from scratch, which is where I learned basic skills like using a circular saw, a cordless screwdriver, a wood drill, a grinding machine and so on, but I would still love to learn even more! My parents also taught me some useful skills in building, which I learned from building our house ourselves, when I was a bit younger, but I have to admit that they got a bit rusty. I also have some woodwork skills from my work in the local holidaycamp and technical school lessons and some knowledge with painting.

-Childcare: I have quite a lot of experience with children, after working as a camp counselor at our local holiday camp during my school-holidays, as a swimming teacher for children from 4-9 years and as a babysitter for several years and I really enjoy being around kids in general.

-Animalcare: I gathered experience with chicken, sheep, pigs, cats and rabbits from my time at the biological farm. During my 2 workaway stays I also got a lot of experience with Huskys and mushing trips, as well as Horse training and care.

-IT-Skills: I have some good IT-Skills when it comes to using Word, Excel, Powerpoint,... and can also solve basic computer problems and am able to construct a website for example :)
Also I'm just teaching myself some video editing skills, since I'm doing a video as a little thank you gift for my last hosts right now and I love doing it so far and would love to help you with making pictures and videos as well!

-Nursing and elderly care: As a nurse I also have quite a lot of knowledge with caring for ill, elderly and/ or disabled humans, especially with wound therapies, gastroenterological and neurological diseases, after working in all of these fields for some time :)

I lived with Rita, Einar, Arne and Sverre in September and had one of the best months of my whole life!
I really felt like a part of the family and we made so many great memories together, I can't even write them all down!

"Work": A normal "work" day started with me going to the dogs in the morning to make sure, that all the dogs had clean dog… read more cages and water bowls. Then followed my morning cuddles with the dogs, which was the best part of the day! After that I usually had a great breakfast, started to bake some bread, did the laundry or did some kitchen/house cleaning, which usually didn't take that long and was even fun while listening to podcasts :) Afterwards I often did some great hikes in the beautiful (!) nature with the dogs, which was always a lot of fun and also got to paint some of the dog houses and gates. In the noon I sometimes prepared some food for the family (Einar is a true master chef!) and got to play football and other games with Arne & Sverre, which was always a lot of fun! After that I had some free time to go berry picking, etc again or I joined Rita on some great mushing trips! In the evening we sometimes ate supper together, I helped feeding the dogs and cleaned the yard & water bowls again or I did some gorgeous night walks under the beautiful stars and northern lights before going to bed... it was the best life ever!

Freetime: On the weekends I was able to do some awesome trips with the family, whether we went to a beautiful lake in the middle of the mountains with the caravan, berry picking during a bike trip with the dogs, sleeping in a hammock under the northern lights, visiting their great cabin in the middle of the nature, eating self made blueberry jam with bread and the most delicious brown cheese in the morning and so much more! I loved spending time with them on the weekends and I'll also never forget our awesome Pizza nights with card games and great films following the cute "Cooba"-Octopus ;)

Social Life: I was really worried that I'll feel very lonely, especially because I had to stay in quarantine for the first 10 days. And eventhough these first days were sometimes a bit hard and you have to be able to live and work by yourself in general, I still had a great time, especially since the dogs helped a lot against the loneliness :)
It also helped that I felt really welcome at Rita and Einar's place from the first moment and also had some great chats with Rita & Einar, a lot of fun with the boys and such a great time with the dogs and I miss them all already! They are such a caring and joyful family and Arne and Sverre are some of the funniest and smartest boys I've ever met! I took a lot from their way of living with me and I even learned how to put together a sofa, which was a really life changing experience for me! I only wished I had learned more Norwegian, since communicating with Sverre was sometimes a bit difficult, but we were also able to have a great time with my almost non-existing Norwegian, as well as our hands and feet ^^

There is also another workaway host just a few meters away and I was incredibly lucky to have met an awesome workawayer there! Together we went to the local museum, visited Hammerfest by bus and joined the royal and ancient polar bear society, did some great walks with our dogs in the mountains and at the incredibly beautiful Fjord (seriously, you have no idea how beautiful it really is unless you are there), had some cool movie nights at my appartment,...! Meeting another traveller to be able to spend my free time with during the trip made my time there even more perfect!

Dogs: One of my absolute favourite things was going on long hikes and Kickbike-/Quadtrips with the dogs or simply lying in the sun while cuddling with them! I fell in love with these 5 amazing furballs instantly and I already miss them a lot!
Fox: he's one of the smartest and cuddliest dogs I've ever met! He was also such an expert during the Mushing Trips.
Pia: she's such a great Lady, I made really long hikes with her and enjoyed every minute of them!
Emil: he's the craziest dog I've ever met and kickbiking with him regularly led to some bruises, but you also can't be in a bad mood around him since he's always so happy, energetic and funny!
Kvitsock: she's the most adorable und cute dog ever and I miss her a lot!
Taiga: thanks to her we got some awesome moose dinners and adding to that, she's also such a cuddly and gentle dog!

So even after writing this whole novel there is still so much more that I could write about, but to be honest, no words can really describe how thankful I am that I got to experience all this for myself and I really hope that we'll get to meet each other again in the future, whether it is in the beautiful Freiburg or in 5 years during the winter in the beautiful Stabbursnes!

Jessica is a wonderful person, caring so much for others and really fun to be around :) She stayed with us for ca 4 weeks in Aug - Sept 2020, and really helped us out a lot with the dogs and the house.
