Hi my name is Jess from the UK.
I have spent lots of time volunteering doing a variety of jobs.
-Working in greenhouses (3 months)
-Helping at a food charity (6 months)
-Volunteering at an animal sanctuary (5 months)
-Helping in a community house (1 month)
-Volunteer at kids arts and crafts club (1 month)
-Volunteer in Buddhist temple cafe (3 weeks)
-Helping at a horse and donkey sanctuary (1 month)
Plus some extra short term volunteering and also some WWOOFing.
I have lots of experience doing outdoor work. I was a landscape gardener for 5 years. But now I prefer wilder practices and permaculture. I would love to learn some natural building and volunteer at eco villages!

I enjoy cooking, baking, making herbal remedies, reading, knitting, gardening, motorbikes!
My ultimate goal is quite simple, to have a plot of land to grow organically and work with nature to create a small slice of paradise, for animals and a little community.
Hopefully one day I can escape this materialistic, money fuelled world and live a simple life on the land.
I really enjoy doing Workaways to learn from others, Immerse myself in communities and families and to make friends from all over the world.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Most of my skills are hands on and physical. I'm not afraid to work hard and I love the feeling of accomplishment!
I'm happy to do any outside jobs, and working as a gardener taught me many skills and has made me a hard worker.
I'm very good at following orders and getting on with the work. I can use most machinery with confidence such as lawnmowers, strimmers, rotavators...
However, I can also do lighter things like weeding, planting, pruning, tidying, etc.

I have lots of experience with animals. I grew up on farms and helped with feeding the animals and making sure they were all happy and healthy! :)
I have since helped at a few animal sanctuary, and have loved looking after a wider variety of animals. My jobs included feeding the animals in the mornings and evenings, as well as completing cleaning jobs during the day. I also learnt how to give some of the smaller animals their daily medications.

I have also been helping out my family in renovating a house in France. I have been planning the garden and fixing outbuildings, as well as doing jobs inside like sanding wooden flooring, painting, removing old wooden ceilings and walls.
I also spent lockdown there creating a vegetable garden from scratch, with raised beds making sure to use recycled materials like an old table and chairs as wooden planks, to create things in the most sustainable way. :)
I would LOVE to help with any vegetable gardens and permaculture projects, as I feel like my experience with gardening could help!
I can also offer to help with cleaning and any housework and cooking. I have lots of experience with all of these. As well as house sitting and dog sitting.
