Hiya! My name is Holly and I'm from Birmingham, England.

What brings me to Workaway is my love for being surrounded by nature and immersing myself within different cultures and environments. I find it exciting meeting new people from different walks of life, learning from one another and collaborating to create something useful.

I have previously lived abroad studying in Florence and working in Paris; while I cherished these experiences of throwing myself into new countries and cultures, I am now looking to explore life outside of the city. I hope to take part in a hands-on project that works towards building a sustainable, communal and creative space, whether that be through alternative housing, farming or energy solutions - I am very flexible and mainly eager to learn about ecological approaches to living and sustaining ourselves!

I am a Languages graduate in French and Italian so would be very keen to practice these while away, as well as help others with their languages as a native English speaker. Being able to achieve fluency and communicate with people in their native languages is a great motivation of mine - the access it awards you to countries and people across the globe along with their cultural productions such as literature, film etc is what largely drives my pursuit of languages.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Having worked as a Barista in a bakery and various cafes, I have a lot of experience with serving, cleaning and creating a welcoming space. I also have a Food Hygiene certificate and have some minimal professional kitchen experience.

In my own time I am a keen cook and love inventing recipes with my housemates and experimenting with vegetarian dishes, especially various grains and salads. Cooking and providing for people is something that brings me a lot of satisfaction and joy!

I am a native English speaker, but also have an intermediate level of French and Italian. I have experience teaching English in France and teaching various subjects in London, so have developed into a patient, empathic teacher of people of all ages.
When working at a French university, I designed, hosted and created social media content for events designed to encourage students' language abilities.

I'm amateur gardener, in the process of transforming my back garden in London. I have helped completely renovate my parent's garden, from lending a hand to build sleeper beds to planting herbs and flower beds.

I'm a keen hiker , love reading, film and music - I spend a lot of time seeing live music in London, as well as visiting my local cinema which puts on great independent international cinema!
I've recently taken up drumming and have done a fair amount of bouldering in the past - both of which I'd like to commit more time to in the future :)
