G’Day! We are Ashleigh and Heyson, an Australian couple in our late 20s traveling across Europe in 2024. We have been together for 9 years and over this time have done lots of travel, between work and study. We are taking 6 months off our full-time jobs to learn new skills and immerse ourselves in different cultures.
Heyson:
I am a physiotherapist from Adelaide, South Australia. I’m a kind, hardworking, and social person with a love for cooking, eating, exercising, and the outdoors. Growing up on a farm in South Australia, I developed skills in animal handling (sheep, cattle, horses, dogs) and using machinery (motorbikes, tractors, trucks, cars). I also have experience in customer service from working at a local general store and cafe. Additionally, I’ve worked as a laborer for a builder, which nurtured my passion for using my hands and being outside.
I pursued a Masters of physiotherapy at Flinders University, driven by my love for helping people and working with individuals of all ages. With nearly five years of experience in a private practice, I’m always on the move and enthusiastic about interacting with people from around the world.
Ashleigh:
I am an Occupational Therapist specialising in working with children with disabilities and developmental delays. My passion lies in helping others, building relationships, and embracing new opportunities. In conjunction to this, I love socialising and being active on the weekends. I have a love for animals and children.
My background includes various roles in the hospitality industry, including waitressing and food preparation (pizza shop and health foods). I am dedicated and put my all into everything I do.
Our Workaway Goals:
We are excited about all Workaway opportunities and eager to immerse ourselves in local cultures while meeting people from all walks of life. We are both great with kids and hardworking, making us well-suited for families, hotels, farms, and anything in between.

Both of us work in healthcare, equipping us with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with people from all backgrounds. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, cleanliness, and a strong work ethic.
Our diverse experience includes:
- Hospitality: We have both worked in various roles within the hospitality industry, giving us a solid foundation in customer service and teamwork.
- Renovation: We've fully renovated our own home, showcasing our skills in DIY projects, general maintenance, and a keen eye for detail.
- Farm Work and Animal Handling: Heyson grew up on a farm, giving us practical experience with animal care and farm machinery. Ashleigh has a strong love for all animals and is eager to learn new skills in this area.
- Cooking: We both love to cook and are eager to learn new culinary styles and recipes while sharing our own favourites.
Experience with Children and Animals: We have ample experience working with kids and share a love for animals, making us adaptable to various environments, whether it be family settings, farms, or hospitality venues.
Our enthusiasm for learning and our diverse skill set make us ideal candidates for a range of Workaway opportunities. We are excited to immerse ourselves in local cultures, meet new people, and contribute our skills wherever needed.
