    Rebeka (Beki)

I grew up in a large family, I have two younger sisters and two younger brothers, so the daily hustle and bustle and taking care of each other has been completely natural since I was a child. I have had an eventful life since the beginning, we canoed, fished, danced and played football and ate well with my family and friends. We spent part of the summers in my grandmother's garden, where I unwittingly absorbed the basics of gardening and growing plants. Currently I don't have my own arable land, but it is always a joy and one of the best forms of recreations when I can help with the garden work at my parents' summer house or at Gergő's grandmother. My relationship with nature further strengthened my becoming a scout, so at least one nomadic camping trip outdoors every year was essential. Here I learned to build simple camp furniture from wood and twine, dig a really deep hole (for a camp toilet), to look after a whole camp's worth of people in a night watch and to light a fire with matches - which was a great honor at the age of 10.

From the age of 12, I tried my hand at many jobs:
Picking, corn husking, receptionist in a solarium, logistician in a clothing store, bartending at a famous Hungarian music festival: Sziget, customer service, editing blog posts on a Wordpress website, publishing Airbnb apartments: receiving/welcoming guests and cleaning the apartments.

While still in high school, I obtained a refresher massage qualification, to the delight of my family and friends.
My profession found me when I realized during a lecture how important our food is for our health: it can both be medicine and "poison". I decided that I wanted to help people live happier and healthier lives through food. I completed the dietetic training at Semmelweis University, and by the end of the university I was richer not only with a diploma, but also with love, because this is where Gergő and I met each other.

Once we overcame the difficulties of the university together, we thought we were strong enough to start our business together, so we launched our first passion project, Guts&Roots. Currently, as entrepreneurs, both of work and learn every day to reach as many people as possible who want to improve their quality of life through their food and lifestyle. We also hold online one on one consultations and occasional workshops. It's an amazing feeling to be able to play a role in making someone's life better.

I've only been to Norway twice so far, but from the first moment a part of me have wanted to go back there. First, we visited Stavenger and its surroundings for a few days. For the second time, we undertook a more daring tour: we hitchhiked from Oslo to Lysefjorden and went wild camping for 10 days. It was an amazing experience and we met a lot of good people on the way, including a 72-year-old gentleman who told us about the Norwegian lakes and mountains and the trolls living there. Dropping back into civilization at the end of our tour, thanks to our three warm-hearted CouchSurfing hosts, we no longer had to endure the rainy days in the tent.

Now we want to try the digital nomad life and it was clear to both of us where our journey would lead first... to Norway!

    Gergely (Gergő, Garry)

I was born in a small village in western Hungary. I had a sensational childhood. I spent a lot of time outdoors, we played in the forest, fished, hiked a lot. As a village child, I helped my parents in the garden from the very beginning. Many animals were kept in the neighborhood, there were horses, cattle, pigs, turkeys and other poultry, so I was able to see the intricacies of large animal husbandry and farming. Our neighbor was like my grandfather, I drove a tractor, a horse-drawn carriage, harvested grapes, corn, etc. Growing up in the village was an experience for me that I wouldn't trade for all the money in the world.
I got a taste of the world of "real" work at a very early age. My first job was delivering newspapers when I was 12 years old. It felt good to be able to buy my first desktop computer with my own money. After that, I tried my hand at many other student jobs, such as fruit picking, corn threshing, and construction work.
I was able to spend my two-year high school internship in one of the best restaurants in Győr, and after graduating from high school, I became a chef.
Everyone in my family earned their living with manual labor, so for a long time I didn't even think about the possibility of continuing my studies at university. In the second half of high school, I had the feeling that I wanted something different, that I wanted to follow my own path. Choosing the university and specialization was relatively easy, as I have been competing in Kyokushin karate since I was 9 years old (I have placed in many international competitions). As a competitive athlete, I was faced with the fact that well-structured nutrition is an essential part of outstanding sports performance, so I dealt with the topic a lot when I was a competitor. So when it came time to apply to university, there was no question about what I should study further. I started to study as a dietitian at Semmelweis University.
It was not easy! Capital city life... No one from my family had traveled this path before me... However, during my university years, I became richer with many things without which I could not imagine my life today. Love found me, that's how Beki and I met and got to know each other at university. In Budapest, instead of Karate, I started doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which became another great love in my life. And finally, of course, I got a degree in dietetics. As hard as it was for me to fit into the university environment, I obtained my second degree as suddenly as I did: I became a sports-specific dietitian this June. Already during the university years, we started working with Beki on our business, our dream project, which we realized after the university and named it Guts&Roots. During my work, my main goal is to help those who come to me improve their performance through their nutrition, whether it is sports performance or mental performance.
During the development of our business, in addition to providing the highest possible level of professional assistance to our clients, one of the most important aspects was the creation of the possibility of working independently of the location, so we hold our consultations exclusively online. This helps us live as digital nomads.

Before the pandemic, we adventured together in several European countries: we went wild camping and rafting in Croatia, we went camping and fishing in Greece, we went hiking in Rome, we climbed mountains in Slovakia and Austria, we hitchhiked and we went wild camping in Norway. During each of our trips, we became richer with countless permanent and irreplaceable experiences, but I was able to experience the complete freedom of travel for the first time in my life in Norway during a 2-week hitchhiking, wild camping, couch surfing tour. Since then, not a week goes by without our trip to Norway being mentioned in connection with something. Therefore, we could not choose another country as our destination for our first workaway trip.
