An amazing experience in an amazing place with an amazing couple !
I stayed a bit more than a month in Vannoya and I enjoyed every moment of it. Marco and Britta are great hosts ! We will certainly stay in touch...
If you mostly like busy city centers and nightclubs, don't come to Vannoya😁 If instead you love beautiful nature and quiet places,
… read more you will love Vannoya. Hiking under the midnight sun or sailing to Fugløya are fantastic memories.❤️
We typically worked on construction or renovation work in the morning and could use the afternoons for other things.
Hosts and guests come and go. It was great to meet Oscar, Julian, Tina and Thomas, my fellow workawayers. And also cool to get to know Roberto, Irina, Noa and Valeria.
I hope I will find a way to come back in the winter at Vannoya to meet orcas, practice ski touring or enjoy the famous aurora skies...and of course meet Marco and Britta again.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

Marco and Britta are fantastic hosts. I spent more than a month with them and the experience of living in this part of the world was life changing, I never expected the northern summer to be so spectacular. Outside the nature is beautiful everywhere you go, I often liked to do "mid-night" hikes to the mountains of the island to see the orange and

Inside the house you will get a taste of authentic northern Italian cousine mixed with the best Norwegian salmon, Marco and his daughter are very good cooks who will not let you go hungry. They cooked most days but every 5th day they would let me use the kitchen to make bread and norwegianized mexican and spanish dishes.
Being here you will never be bored, Marco is an experienced sailor and cultured man with whom there is always something to talk about. He and Britta have plenty of stories to share. They took me sailing once to Tromsø to clean the underside of the boat and once to a beautiful place near Senja with clients. In the evenings we used to go out to swim in the icy water of the sea, go fishing, cycling, play backgammon and because most vegetation consists of wild grass we used to go out to play golf in the land outside the house (until there were no balls left). When I stayed with them we did insulation and wood cladding on the walls on the House of Books and other small carpentry projects, schedule was very flexible.
Marco lent me his car whenever I needed to move around the island and to the ferry, although most of the time I preferred to use his old bike. The island is large but with no steep roads so it's very nice to move around in the bike, it has very nice hiking routes in the beaches and the mountains, lots of wild berries and if you are lucky you might meet with a few reindeer.
In the most unlikely place, being with Marco, Britta and their family felt like being at home. For me it was like living in paradise.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

Fakken is the most beautiful place I’ve experienced during my 2 months of workawaying in Norway. All the people I’ve lived seems to be bound together by the constant and deep awe for what exists out of the doorstep.
I spent there 2 and a half weeks in August. The work mainly consisted in insulating and painting the house of books, I found it nice
… read more and easy. We agreed with Marco about the tasks and then we worked indipendently when he wasn’t there.
The accommodation is in a lovely guest house. It’s recently renovated, bright and clean, with the most terrific views from the big windows of the living room.
Marco and Britta are kind and available, they made me feel welcome. They weren’t there for most of my stay. Marco has sailed quite a lot around the world and has some stories to tell. One morning they took us out sailing to Fugløya, “the island of birds”, and it was a dream come true for a wildlife lover: puffins, guillemots, skuas, sea eagles, the plankton sparkling in the water…
On my free time I took walks on the island, went hiking or fishing with other workawayers, or enjoyed a book in the living room. From the rocks in front of the house I’ve seen dolphins, otters, a whale, countless birds. I won’t forget my midnight walks by the shore, surrounded by dozens of screeching arctic terns in the everlasting low light of nordic dusk

I spent three and half weeks in this wonderful place, together with Giulia and Jose, two very special guys, extremely patient, hospitable and super funny. During my stay in Norway I had the opportunity to discover the beautiful island of Vannoya, its animals as reindeer, sheep, eagles and many others. My volunteering activity was to help them in

I highly recommend a Workaway experience in this place, since it gives you a way to escape from our everyday's chaotic and stressful life to refuge in a peaceful place, among nature and incredible animals.

I spent two months on the island of Vannøya, guest of Marco: for anyone who wants to find some peace from a hectic daily life, having an experience here is something I recommend wholeheartedly.
There is something magical about this place, and those who live there are an inspiration for those who dream of spending a lifetime traveling!
Marco's
… read more welcome makes you feel right at home, even if you've ended up at the "end of the world".
I worked as a house keeper for about two months and I didn't do any direct work on the house of books; despite this, I can still recommend to any Workawayawayer that having an experience here is able to give a lot.
The library project is decidedly fascinating and being able to contribute to building this jewel on the edge of Europe must give great satisfaction. Then oh well, as soon as you raise your eyes you have paradise in front of you (for those who love Nordic landscapes!)..
In short, if you are looking for an experience in the North, relying on Marco is the best thing you can do! :)Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

Be in Vannoya island has been a great experience!
I helped Marco in marketing , creating strategy to increase the business.
During my days there i had the chance to meet amazing people, discover sailing and whale experience, i ve seen northern light and stunning nature.
It seems to be inside a National Geographic movie.
Thank Marco for these
… read more lovely days

Staying on Vannøya truly feels like being at the end of the world but in the best way ! I have spent 2 weeks there but could have stayed much more that's for sure 😀
When I arrived Marco, Giulia and Jose immediately made me feel home, like I have always been part of the adventure, and what an adventure ! The house where I lived is so cosy, with
… read more huge windows so you can enjoy the landscape and watch northern lights while sitting next to the stove. I could have sat there all day watching the light and the weather change.
But the house would be nothing without its inhabitants. Marco, Giulia and Jose are just wonderful people ! I truly enjoyed the teamwork cutting and sorting wood in a relaxed atmosphere and having fun while doing so 🙂 They are funny and caring people with a lot of things to share. I have had some nice free-time with them during which Jose taught me how to fish properly (sorry about the 2 artificial baits I lost 😅), Giulia taught me how to prepare a fish (still a lot of things to learn about that...) and Marco shared some stories about his adventures throughout the world. We also went to a party together living the real Vannøya nightlife, because yes it exists as far as I can remember 😉 I'm just disappointed not to have spend more time with them as I think there are much more things to learn and share with them.
In short they created a haven of peace at the end of the world with a great and relaxed atmosphere (at least when Evuad is sleeping by the stove) and I'm really happy about meeting and sharing some times with them, these are memories I won't forget 🤩
I wish you all the best Marco, Giulia, Jose and Evuad. Be sure I'll be back one day and that you are more than welcome to my place when I'll be back to France !
Cheers from Alexis le lion 🦁

I spent almost two autumn weeks in this remote, amazing and beautiful place. Marco - the host - is an extraordinary man: a sailor, traveler, writer, visionary, but also a construction worker and a cook in one person, the good spirit of this place. Meeting him is an adventure in itself. He can create a good atmosphere in his home, he will certainly

He also made his car available to me so that I could move around the island. Vannoya offers great hiking routes and is the best place to see the Northern Lights. My volunteer responsibilities - simple construction work - mostly involved renovating the house that is to become The House of Books. This bold project of creating a safe haven for travelers and writers at the end of the world drew me to this place. I am happy and grateful that I could participate in it.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.
