Hey!

We are first cousins that come from a family of farmers (pigs, cows, and cash crop), and have always loved being around this lifestyle and the outdoors. We are from a small town in Ontario and are both 19 years old (as of 2024). we both want to experience the lifestyles in different parts of the world and therefore decided to join workaway. At my home (Aydrie) I run a hobby farm with my family that has 2 pigs, 7 chickens, 2 ducks and a bunny. I love staying active by working whenever I can, while also doing sports and hobbies on the side. I love meeting new people and seeing new places!
At my home (Mikayla) we run a cash crop operation and an excavation company. I have always enjoyed operation machines and being involved in the farming lifestyle. I have always loved animals and have always wanted to own a horse (would love to help somewhere I can be around horses). I also enjoy participating in sports and other hobbies such as fishing.

Hi, my name is Aydrie and I'm currently a student at Guelph University studying Food and Agricultural business. I help around the house with chores, such as general house cleaning, cooking home cooked meals and any outdoor maintenance (Lawn and gardens). I have my own hobby farm with chickens, ducks, pigs and bunnies, so I contribute to daily chores for them, such as feeding, cleaning the coop and collecting eggs. I love painting and drawing and have done lots of volunteer work in the arts in crafts area, such as face painting at many events and running arts and crafts tables. My parents opened up a home hardware and an ice cream shop in our small town about 4 years ago, I've worked there for most of high school and now pick up the odd shifts when they need the extra hand. I started horse back riding at a very young age, but have stopped in the recent years and I only wish to do it again!

- Dairy farm/ 1 year - feeding calves, scrapping poop and milking cows
- Pig farm/2 summers - power washing, organizing cards, and cleaning feed troughs
- Famme and Company Accounting firm/6 months - Managed front desk, spoke/called clients, and prepared financial statements.
- Home Hardware (Family owned)/ 4 years - ongoing - Customer service, cleaning and organizing, and designing product displays
- Home Sweet Home Ice cream/ 4 years - ongoing - Customer service, cleaning and organizing, made ice cream pies and managed inventory
- SignOntario (Family owned)/ 3 years - ongoing - Laminating and printing stickers, designer, and vehicle wraps

Hi, my name is Mikayla and I am currently not enrolled in school and am still trying to navigate what I would like to do as my life path, therefore I am motivated to use workaway as an opportunity for new experiences. My father ran an excavation company as well as custom farming while I was growing up, therefore I have experienced driving multiple different types of equipment and have an understanding of what life looks like on a farm. Besides helping with field work occasionally, I had a garden growing up where I would plant a variety of vegetables and care for them myself.

Job descriptions:
- Dairy farm/3 years - feeding calves, cleaning pens and stalls, milking cows, helped with field work
- Livestock transportation company/2 years - wash the trailers that are brought back from delivering pigs and cows, learned how to drive a manual transport truck to park trailers
- Concrete company/3 summers ongoing- learned the basics of how to set up (form), pour and strip (take forms down) concrete walls for commercial and agricultural job sites
- Excavation/ 4 summers ongoing - operate a skid steer to level the ground or move resources around, drive a tractor with a dump trailer on back to move resources, learning to operate excavator

Aydrie & Mikayla - Camp Green Path

When we were 16 we organized and operated a kids outdoor day camp at my country home (Aydrie). We both weren't very busy with work at the time so we wanted to create our own innovative way to make some money during the summer. The camp was active for 2 weeks during the month of August, with approximately 12 kids each week from ages 8-12. We organized fun activities, such as minnow and crayfishing, scavenger hunts, arts and crafts table, sponge fights and optical courses with mini prizes. This was an amazing experience for both the kids and us. We both enjoyed the time spent with the kids and we gained new work experience.

We are both fully G licensed .

Aydrie - Some things I enjoy are drawing and painting, playing cards or board games, sports and fitness, and outdoor activities (Kayaking, hiking and camping). I've travelled to many places around the world and love taking photos and meeting new people. I've always been very compassionate about animal's and have always loved horses and hope to have one of my own one day.

Mikayla - I have been working the same job for a few years now and want to make some new and everlasting experiences. I would love to help out on a ranch or any job that involves animals, such as horses, to gain important life skills that could be used in future experiences.
