New Mexico, United States - desde Jun 2024 até Jun 2025 Ver tudoDescrição
It is presently early June, 2024, and I just wrapped up two months of ecstatic service at an ashram in Tennessee. When chatting with a fellow volunteer about my next adventure, he recommended that I check out Workaway, so here I am! Always eager to try something NEW!
Cherishing the planet that we all call 'home,' as well as her inhabitants -- two-legged and otherwise (!) -- is what motivates me.
My approach towards Life has been to leave a place better than I found it, whether with a smile, an act of kindness and/or generosity, perhaps simply pausing to pick up trash.
It deLights me to bring other people love, life, and joy by sharing my own.Interesses

Quais são suas habilidades?
I am a healthy, youthful, vibrant 63 year old, who has had a life full of experiences even though I did not have an actual career. I also did not have children, both of which I believe have contributed to my youthful nature.
It seems that sharing a bit about my two months as a volunteer at the ashram would help people know me better.
During my brief stay I had a smile for everyone I met and a 'yes' to everything asked of me. Most of my co-volunteers were much younger than I and yet would marvel at my physical strength and deep reservoirs of energy. I explained that it was due to the fact that I found great joy in being part of something larger than myself.
There were, of course, assigned tasks for the different teams - Meals, Accommodations, Gift Shop, Program Coordination - however, I excelled at 'filling in the gaps,' as I like to put it. I would proactively break down the boxes generated by the kitchen, empty and rinse the compost buckets, keep the recycling area organized and tidy, or sweep places otherwise overlooked. The PCO Team was thrilled when they learned I enjoy sewing, bringing me meditation cushions whose seams had failed, and cushion covers that had rips. I also repurposed gorgeous cotton rugs that were stained or frayed into smaller pieces by cutting them and finishing their rough edges on a machine. I even invented my own "seva" or service area - our public bathrooms. Ever since my first visit to the ashram, I had made it my goal to see that these were kept well stocked and clean, so that visitors would be spared any unpleasant experiences.
Mine has been a life dedicated to service and I thoroughly inJoyed sharing my gifts and talents with the good folks in Tennessee for those eight weeks.Idade

In my 40s, I was asked during an astrology reading, "What do you do?" To which I immediately replied, "Whatever needs to be done!"
Over the years this has included a wide range of callings, from caring for an elderly neighbor when her husband suffered a stroke, to helping friends move, to assisting a lovely woman to her premature death from cancer, even installing insulation in the roof of the rental home I presently share with a friend of 20 years, and assisting our neighbor put a new roof on hers!
Not particularly career-oriented, my jobs have run the gamut, from working as a 'wilderness counselor' with troubled youth, to running a hotel in Chico, California, to starting a not-for-profit dedicated to recycling, to online transcription, to tutoring developmentally challenged children.
A homesteader at heart, my greatest passion is to live simply and close to the Earth, with my hands in the soil and my ears alert for sounds from my bird friends! I have wildcrafted herbs, made tinctures, set up an untold number of gardens, dried as well as canned hundreds of jars of fruits and vegetables, lovingly cared for dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and horses, all in my journey as a good Steward of the Planet, and lover of Beauty.Mais algumas informações
