I am a nature-enthusiast and friend of simple living. I am slow-traveling around alot, focusing on nature places. I would like to find a piece of land of my own at some point, or join a non-dogmatic eco community.
I work as a university teacher in psychology and recently started the training to become a systemic therapist.
I like mushroom picking, forests, clear water, hiking, sauna, running, yoga. Music is important to me (mostly rock), I myself play the guitar and sing.
I do enjoy and look for good company, but always need time by myself and a quiet place to retreat as well.

I'd like to say that I am quite handicrafted and learn fast, although I have no professional craftsmanship-skills.
I am a yoga-teacher, hobby-guitarist, singer and songwriter, first-aid-coach, barista, a reasonabel cook, have a lot of experience in outdoor living.
It might be I forgot something. ;)

Better late than never…back to babylon, I have been distracted quite a bit the last two months, but now I finally get around to write this feedback…

The first days were stormy, but then for the rest of the time the weather was very pleasant, which was especially valueable because I was … read more camping on jamies land. Jamies spot in the jungle is superb… wild, remote and I spent alot of time just lying in the tent, listening to the sound of the river. i went exploring the area around quite a bit, and it is great, but rough, not a place for long lazy walks, especially in winter, when everything is wet.
I enjoyed daily live with jamie. I would get up around 9 or 10, have some coffee, most of the time with another volunteer, or alone, or with jamie, if she wasn’t still away in the village, bringing her daughter to daycare. Then we would start some work in the garden, mostly cutting down invasive plants and preparing land for spring. It felt good to move the body in the fresh air, and it was never too much. Jamie is not bossy at all, flexible and open to and capable of clear communication. I learned alot about natural farming and edible and medicinal plants. The variety of plants that you can grow here is amazing!
There was plenty of time left for chilling together in the house, or in the garden, cooking, eating, drinking chai, talking, making music, sometimes deep conversations... her two-year-old daughter always in the middle of it, demanding her good share of moms attention. Putting the kid to bed ended the days rather early, leaving time for personal retreat in the tent in the darkness of the wintertime, listening to the sound of the river.
Not only did i get to know jamie, her daughter and meet interesting other volunteers at her place, but also jamie introduced me to the islands foreign community. There is always something going on, even in the winter, and this place is not so lonely as you might first think. But as a volunteer independence is limited, by foot it is easy to reach the village of lomba, but to go further can be tricky without a car, although hitchhiking seems to work quite well on the island.
Jamies place is a place to reconnect with nature and yourself, but also about meeting people. Of course I tried to contribute my share, but mostly I felt welcome and valued as a person, that I could very much be as I am, making this maybe my best workaway- experience so far. So thank you jamie!
