Hello!

We are Emily and Ben! We are both from British Columbia (Canada), and we’re travelling through Europe this fall. We’re looking for workaway opportunities in Italy throughout October before we leave for England and Ireland to visit our extended family!

I (Emily) work as a registered nurse at a small rural hospital in Canada. I am passionate about caring for others through challenging life moments and feel honoured to get to support people through the vulnerabilities that are faced in healthcare. In addition to my work, some things that bring me happiness are: hiking, biking, art, my family, and building community!

Ben is a registered Early Childhood Educator and recently graduated university with a degree in Geography. He has 5+ years of working in early childhood education, supportive childcare, and 1:1 support for youth with developmental disabilities in both school and home settings. Additionally, he has experience in outdoor education and various outdoor research projects. He finds happiness in: working with children, downtime (like cards) with family, sports with friends, running, and reading books.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Emily has a degree in nursing. Her nursing experiences vary from palliative care, harm reduction, general medical, and some perinatal. Prior to becoming a nurse, Emily travelled to New Zealand and Australia where she worked on various farms, helped with renovations in a small hotel, and worked in other labour roles. Emily has also travelled through Central America, doing work exchanges in hospitality, at a chocolate factory, and at hostels. Emily is very personable, compassionate, hard working, and motivated.

As mentioned previously, Ben has extensive experience working with children in early childhood education, 1:1 support roles, and in environmental education. Ben’s degree in Geography has also allowed him to work in outdoor research roles for NGOs and nonprofits in the remote backcountry of Western Canada.

Ben and I love playing cards! We play chess, cribbage, and yannith together. We’re happy to teach and learn new games with whoever we get to meet in workaway opportunities.

We’re also both active people. We enjoy hiking outdoors, running, biking, and playing basketball!
